Listen to the MUSTN'TS, child, Listen to the DON'TS List to the SHOULDN'TS The IMPOSSIBLES, the WON'TS Listen to the NEVER HAVES Then listen close to me- Anything can happen, child ANYTHING can be.-Shel Silverstein I love him. I used to have a record (yes, a record) of Where the Sidewalk Ends on which he spoke, sang, and gaffawed his way through a number of his own poems. I can still hear his voice rising in hope at the end of this one. (So WHAT if this should've gone into "For Yellow Wax and the Ants"...I wanted to show it to everyone )

What you up to tonight, Juni? If you are a dreamer, come in, If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer. . . If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire For we have flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in! *says prox, as she moseys down memory lane, waiting for her hair to dry and getting ready for tonight...and notices that she spelled "Shel Silverstein" wrong... * IP: Logged |

You can buy Where the Sidewalk Ends on cd. Shel released ten or eleven albums. You can find most / ? of them on cd. It was a great loss when he died. ------------------ Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding. - Ralph Waldo Emerson - IP: Logged |
