The black out in London is not considered sabotage, so they say What are the odds of it occurring in both the U.S. and England within weeks of each other? Power Returning After London Blackout Outage Comes Exactly Two Weeks After Massive Blackout In U.S. POSTED: 2:16 p.m. EDT August 28, 2003 UPDATED: 4:19 p.m. EDT August 28, 2003 LONDON -- London's mayor says it was a mess -- but there's no sign that terrorism was involved in Thursday's blackout. Power was out in parts of the British capital and in southeastern England for about 40 minutes Thursday, exactly two weeks after New York and other parts of the Northeast were hit by a blackout. London Mayor Ken Livingstone told Sky News that about a 500,000 commuters were affected and up to 150,000 people lost power. There were serious disruptions on the London Underground and on some train lines. According to an Underground spokesman, 60 percent of the system was shut down. Workers evacuated stranded people from trains. One woman was stuck outside Victoria Station -- and said the line for cabs was "about a mile long." Pubs in the area were packed with stranded commuters. Another commuter said it's amazing that a big city like London could be brought to a standstill. Subway workers said even though the power is coming back, it could be some time before normal service resumes. A spokesman for EDF Energy, a London power transmission company, said the problem appears to have originated in two high-voltage lines belonging to the national power grid that help supply the Wimbledon area of southeast London. He said it's unlikely that the outage was the result of sabotage. http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/2440770/detail.html juniperb IP: Logged |

Hi Juniperb I still think it's interesting that we had a power cut (energy...which =Mars) on the underground (short distance travel = Mercury)....while both planets are retrograde (and in opposite signs - so working against each other). Doncha just love astrology When stuff like this happens, I feel like I have "inside" information Sue IP: Logged |

Since the computers that control the power grid are not actually connected to the internet saying it was a hacker is not really....feasable.IP: Logged |

You don't need to be connected to the internet to have a computer. All the hacker has to do is connect into a control grid/system board through another means. Everything is networked nowadays, and even though it isn't a part of the internet doesn't mean it isn't a target. There's a way around everything.IP: Logged |
