Hello Knowflakes,

I am in need of vacation ideas for myself. If you have ideas or websites that I could visit, it would be fabulous.

General things I am looking for:

1 week in February
Accomodations for 1 (just me! woohoo!)
Mountain
Cabin
Some snow
Relaxing
Fireplace
Bathtub (strange request, but looking up cabins has shown some with only shower stalls)

Money isn't a big issue. Not looking for anything extravagantly themed, just rustic and space for one person.

Oh, and I would be traveling from California.

Thanks!

Aphrodite

Oh, Amy...come to Banff or Jasper, up in the Canadian Rockies! With the exchange rate, it'll be uber-affordable, and it has ALL those elements you mentioned, plus so much more....I'm telling you, you'll love it!!

I agree with Lioneye 68 that Banff and Jasper are fabulous, but I always find them a bit crowded. I like the off-the-beaten-path places. Still, if you don't spend the time at Juni's place, consider some of the smaller towns in the Canadian Rockies. Invermere BC is really wonderful and has Panorama ski resort, plus Fairmont. Lots of hot springs, too. Are you a downhill ski person or cross country?

Canmore is nice too, and it's just out of Calgary, so that's cool.

I like the Appalachians (oldest extant mountains in the world, baybee), but they're a little bit far away for you.

Try New England-- I would recommend Vermont because I know it best. I assume they will have lots of snow in February. Go to the western half of the state, it's near Lake Champlain and is very beautiful!

New Hampshire and Maine have good cheap lobster or any other seafood for that matter.
Maine has great mountains and a good ocean view.

Hi Amy, sitting here watching the fat fluffy snowflakes fall, the cozy fire and ambience of christmas reminded me of this post.

Have you found your haven yet?

Oh Gin

You're such a sweetheart. I had picked Jasper so I could ride horseback in the snow.

But you know, my health may not be strong enough to withstand the elements in the Canadian Rockies. Right after clearing out two infections with Cipro, I've caught yet another one.

I have a few tentative business trips in the coming weeks into January and I do not how I am going to hold up.

Love ,

Amy

Hi Amy,

Oh, you poor thing!! I have a colleague here that has been on 3 types of antibiotics over the last month. He seems to be responding to the Cipro, but his cough is still bad. His wife just went back to the doctor for more meds because her lung infection wasn't clearing up either. This seems to be an extremely virulent flu that ends up turning into a pneumonia / bronchitis for many people.

I hope you get better soon!!

Hi Shawnee,

Thanks The company holiday party is tonight and I am deciding whether or not I should go. Been busy trying to heal and networking that I hadn't even gotten anything to wear

Cipro works fast. The unpleasant part is that one is advised to not take supplements or eat foods high in vitamins in minerals. I do pray that your co-worker and his wife heal quickly. It's a tough lot to have.

A.

Aph~ You poor sweetie you....
I have a friend who was telling me about Colloidal Silver. He said in certain formulations, it is an incredible healer, and kills any bad bacteria/even viruses, it comes in contact with. I wish I had more info, but maybe google? Plus, he was saying that antibiotic resistant bugs that were treated with silver, showed amazing results. I think years ago, there were formulas that were unstable molecularly (sp?) and that it lost it's favour medically even though it had so many proven gifts and properties, as new technologies were being developed. But all indicates that when you've tried the rest, try the best. Look into it, who knows...... I hope that helped. Oh! I hope you come to Jasper when you feel better! Not that I am near it, but it is still beautiful!

That sucks, Aphrodite...but these mountains aren't going anywhere anytime soon. We'll wait for ya! Take care of YOU, and stay away from downer people so you can heal faster.

Amy, I pray for you a complete healing

My Cancer has had an ear infection that simply won`t clear up. He`s been on 2 types of antibiotics to no avail. It`s now bleeding and the next step is more antibiotics. These bugs get worse and worse as we use more and more antibiotics. It`s a vicious circle.

Jasper (also my Lhasa apso`s name ) sounds wonderful and certainly hope you make it

thank you pixelpixie, lioneye, and juniperb

i have heard the same things too about colloidal silver. it's now something that is definitely worth checking into.

that's a good point about the mountains not going anywhere i forget things like that sometimes, big as they are!

all my best to your Cancer juniperb! i am sorry that healing the ear infection is harder these days and turning into a mystery

i have an appointment to see an emergency doctor today at 4 pm and won't be going to the party. here is where it is at, the same place as last year:
http://www.beaucouprestaurant.com/pictures.html

i am feeling about not being able to go. but i know it's for the best.
