Is there a way to tell if someone is doing this right? (or if they are just pulling your leg) How much is up to the interpretation of the reader?

If you paid one of those street sign readers, it is probably a cold reading (hoax).

Nope, thankfully, didn't pay a street sign reader. I went to a metaphysical shop back in November, then today someone at church read my palm briefly. What was interesting is that both looked at the same lines on the side of my hand and one told me they related to how many marriages I would have and the other said it related to how many children I would have. Any thoughts?

Hey there... I have a few books on the subject and while I don't claim to be an expert of ANYTHING! I can tell you, there are basic rules..... basic names/representations for lines and fingers... the way you present your hand.. It has some value, in that it has been passed on so long through the generations, but I sort of discount it for actual reading purposes. I have an open but skeptical mind, and It does make sense that if you present your hand very timidly or 'to yourself', it follows that you'd generally be that type of person, as well as the reverse....outspoken, honest, open. That is mere body language ( which many people would be wise to master!)
The horizontal lines under your baby finger represent relationships.. the depth of them, if they are broken/islands, how many etc are indicative of relationships. The tiny vertical lines branching off represent children if they are directly touching, it is said they are your own, if there are many, you have a great influence and love of children in your life. Typical meanings vary culturally as well as individually. It takes a great deal of insight above all else, to be an ANYTHING reader. For nstance, without pretense, it is one of MY gifts, to bring people things they seem to need to hear, whatever the method. People always come to me for advice, on everything, it has always been that way, so I have recognized it as a strength. If you want to know more about the basics, let me know, I'll post excerpts from my books....

pixelpixie, thank you as always for your wisdom!

Wondering...to which hand would you give more weight when giving a reading? I seem to recall someone once telling me that the left hand is the karma you brought to this life, but the right hand IS this life, and has more weight.

My best friend used to read palms, an art she learned from her grandmother, but she rarely does it anymore. She said people always seemed to look to her to solve their problems, and she found that too draining.

Any other info you would like to share is of course welcome, by me at least!

What do you suppose it means if I have 3 lines under my pinky, and the one closest to my finger comes up and joins the creases at the base of it. It actually looks like it wraps around my pinky. Does that mean I'll marry that person? Or does that mean I'll grow old with them at least?

K, the first question,for Trillian.....
According to my sources, your least dominant hand shows your outer face- the one most people want to hear about, and the other hand, your inward self. I usually use people's least dominant hand though. Markings do change through out your life...

Lioneye68~ I would have to see your markings to get a real feeling for it, but generally, the deeper the line is and the further it goes on your hand, the more deep or lasting the relationship, or at very least, the bond. I would guess, if you have three well defined lines, that they do represent deep unions, whether marriage,or a lasting bond with a love. They could have already happened, or may not have yet, up to you.... I generally feel though, if it combines with other defined markings on your hand, it means something more... it becomes a part of you, in a way only you can define....Or the area of the hand that they represent seperately, join to crreate a new feeling....Baby finger is 'mercury' finger...it deals with 'close personal relationships, including parental relationships... intimate love, and sex.' also 'possible gifts with music, speech, language, and other communication' The upward swerve you indicated, could mean that you will choose NOT to be married. Not that you will be a 'spinster' ( such an outdated word)but that you will be happy and content and fulfilled enough in your life that you choose to commit to yourself, while having fun on the side... you know? It could mean you feel deeply about this relationship and it becomes a part of yourself, and a part of what the mercury finger represents. Do any other lines end abruptly, or curve upwards/downward, island off? How deep are they? Is the pad under your baby finger fleshy and firm? I can tell you what my sources say beyond what I already have, I only wish I could visualize it more....
