Last night I saw a commercial for a pill that treats Adult ADD. I was shocked beyond belief. -StarLover IP: Logged |

Because in my opinion I don't think it's real. It sounds like a joke to me. But now that I've said this, I've probably offended someone.-StarLover IP: Logged |

Well, I don't think that I'm really offended by your opinion, since you're obviously entitled to your own thoughts about anything we talk about here, so long as you state them in a respectful manner when you speak about whatever they are, of course. But, I do have to respectfully disagree with you on your own point, because I do feel that I suffer from symptoms of having a problem with attention myself, although I haven't gone and discussed any of it with a doctor or professional. I am a big, huge believer in alternative treatment methods, and for me, believe it or not, I am actually having success in reversing the pattern of distractions I have by making use of meditation, and by using exercises to aid my concentration and the like on my own right now. I do believe that's it's a very REAL disorder, and that it can be experienced by anyone of any particular age. My personal opinion is that it has to do with low or broken energy flow in the frontal lobes of your brain. I have done a LOT of personal work to rebalance and to realign/repair or "stitch up" this flow of energy present in those areas and I have been meeting with great results, I think. But, of course, I sit in no judgement of anyone who decides to make use of a pill or herb etc... to treat the symptoms of it though. I just don't feel it's my place to make any judgement on someone else in that way myself. IP: Logged |

I think that PlayfulPonderingFishMoon makes a good arguement, but I think that StarLover33 is more shocked that the mediacla industry continues to try to mediate the symptoms, rathers that address the actual cause. If someone get headaches all the time, at least once a day for 6 months straight, do you continue to throw aspirin or tylenol at them, or do you try to find out what is causing the headaches? I think asking questions what has changed in the last six months would be better. In this specific instance, this is certainly a disorder, but it is not so much a physical disorder as a mental/auric disorder. It is difficult to treat a mental/auric disorder, by introducing chemicals into the physical body, since the mental is stronger than the physical. You have to treat the stronger part directly, so to treat something like ADD, you have to treat the mind. That is why schools get it so wrong with kids with ADD, they try to change the body to alter the mind, that would be like an artist trying to take a rock and rather than carve a statue, instead going out into the world and convincing everyone that the rock is in fact a great statue, if they look at it from his point of view. It may work a small percentage of the time, but in the end it is still just a rock. People need to address the cause, and I think that PPFM is on the right track, re-balancing the aura and energy flows of the mind/soul/body will do a lot more that trying to mask the symptoms by taking pills.
