Thru snowdrifts and winds this a.m. I finally reached the sanctuary of the barn. Whew, stepped in and grrr grrrr snarl Another dog followed it`s radar here. . The most beautiful floppy eared, black and white Cocker Spaniel Scared, wet & shivering and very testy, quite willing to bite The llamas had their buns in a bunch and wanted a piece of him as well. No tags or coller. Why people, why don`t you tag your four leggeds? It breakes my heart to see family and pet seperated and scared because they are too cheap or lazy to tag their pet. It takes me hours to locate an owner, that is if it isn`t a dumped pet. I pray I find the little guys family and you can bet I will give them an earful about this. If I don`t locate his family, guess I have me another Christmas pup to adopt out to a family willing to take proper care of. Please tag your four leggeds juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

Awww, juniperb, is it any surprise they find their way to such a kind and gentle heart? It breaks my heart too...I do some work with our local "Humane Society" (in quotes because...well, you know why, but what I try to do is get those animals adopted), and it makes my heart sad sometimes, the treatment these creatures receive. I hope you find his home, I hope they are happy to have him back, I hope an innocent circumstance led him astray. And if not, I know you will find him a home filled with love. IP: Logged |

Hi Trillian, after another visit with HER I see signs of abuse . When I picked up the shovel she went ballistic in fear. Someone has hit her. I calmed her down and finally was able to examine her. She`s matted, full of burdocks, bloated w/parasites and afraid beyond the norm. I had to call the county extension to report the "suspected abuse". That gives me the authority to keep her until an investagation is done. I won`t turn her over until it`s done. Sigh, At least a girl is easier to adopt out. Keep little gal in your prayers. Aw, I just knew you worked with four leggeds Bless you! juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

I'm covered in cats! Help! I'm in the midst of a kitty-sister brawl for attention (and am typing this with one hand because my left is being lain on). ...just had to get that out.Jun & T - Do You know of any good cat "break-away" collars? My Mom's refused to use those collars ever since our neighbor lost one of her cats when it failed to release and she died hung on a tree branch. IP: Logged |

And now that I've regained use of my two hands, I'll say I'm glad that the lost pooch found a warm and caring heart to take her in, even if only until she gets on her four feet - especially so because a cocker spaniel was my early-year defender and partner-in-crime (one instance: we lived in a little blue house above a river town called Occoquan, and one early Sunday morning...when I was three...I decided to take a walk down there with him before my parents woke-up; when they got angry with me, I apparently looked at them straight and said, "But I wasn't alone...I was with Winston,"). They are wonderful dogs, and it's a shame to see them (or any, for that matter) abused so. Frankly, seeing animals hurt saddens me more than seeing people hurt. IP: Logged |

Juniperb, you are the best. I have dealt with abused and abandoned animals many times as well and I know they can be difficult. I will never understand how someone could mistreat an animal. But she's a lucky Christmas pup to have found you. I wish I could give you a great big hug. If I knew how to put those flashing heart things on a message, this one would be ful of them!IP: Logged |

thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. Sadly the little Angel is too emotionally scarred to remain in my home She is too terrified to be around all the noise and general family distractions. She will go to a lady who specifically takes in the souls with special one -on -one needs. A home with no children or other four leggeds with a serene environment to heal her fears. The uni-verse may be trying to tell me something and I`m not hearing. She is the third Cocker to come thru my doors in 3 months... I need to meditate on it. Any insight why the specific breed? juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

Nothing coming thru on the specific breed, just on your loving heart. I think the Goddess brings them there, to you, cause she knows you will take care of them or else find someone equally as kind. It's funny how, we Aquarians, are always surrounded by animals. Between the two of us, we'd have a great little zoo! P.S. My first doggie was a black cocker spaniel named Yippee. ------------------ Hugs,LTD ~~The struggle keeps us young~~Daring to make mistakes and knowing there are none.~~DGM IP: Logged |

Nothing specific regarding that breed, but the name of the breed and it's emphasis in your life lately has this sick Scorpio's mind in the gutter. Hee hee. I hope my sense of humour doesn't offend your honourable intentions, I just thought I'd share my particular breed of insight. I may delete, as maybe I will be the only one to get my sick joke. pixelpixie, don't delete, I get your joke! And a litte humor, even or maybe especially sexual humor, in the midst of such a sad subject is always welcome. A little light in the darkness. juniperb, you're a very special lady and LTD is right, it's no accident that these creatures find their way to you. I don't have any insight on the breed either, but if something should occur, of course I'll let you know. I'm glad there are people like the Knowflakes here in the world. LTD, a dog named Yippee! That's awesome! IP: Logged |

Prox, sorry, no I don`t. I`ve never been in the position to use a collar. I have an eight foot fence instead. I would recommend making your own with velcro. juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |
