Thank you, PixelP

HA! I just noticed something -
the kiddo's going to be born in the Chinese Year of the Monkey (just like me)

Naw, I'm not _really_ that scared by birth stories, and I _am_ grateful to everyone for sharing.
Now, off to the OB (appt. @ 9 AM).

Yaaaay, labor and birth stories. I just had a natural childbirth August 12 with my first, a bebe girl. It was the most intense experience of my entire life.(to say the least) I mentally and emotionally prepped for it the best I could, but as one of my midwives said..."Labor is a ride and you just have to hang on and go with it." I was fortunate in that my labor started at 4 a.m. rather mildly and I gave birth at 2:35 that afternoon after about 45 minutes of pushing. I had planned to have a water birth but my little fiery Lioness bebe had other plans....BOTH tubs leaked!! and right when I found that out I started puking! My transition (the supposed hardest part of labor)was the longest part of my labor, but that is pretty rare I hear....oh, lucky me! Well, it took me the longest to dilate from a 7 onward to a 10....I rushed through the first 7 cm and then 'clammed up' so to speak...so I really think emotional states are very related...labor was definitely an emotional experience and there were a couple times I said "I can't do this" to my sis but those moments pass and you rest between contractions....honestly, I had a great team...2 midwives and my sis as the birthing coach and my parents actually ended up in the room and were very supportive. I just remember hearing their encouragement and reminders to breathe helped tremendously! I screamed so loudly though that I scared off all of my male friends that were waiting downstairs....ha! They went to the porch, wih terrified looks on their faces, as I found out later...whatever, I found my screams to be wonderful, I remember thinking - hey, i would be a good punk rock singer! but then one midwife said to me to put that screaming energy into pushing, so i still screamed but i imagined my energy pushing downward with the scream to help the baby out instead of screaming out of the top of my head, so to speak...personally, yoga, esp prenatal yoga helped also, not that i was ultra diligent about it....also, the artwork of Alex Grey helped, there is an awesome pic of childbirth he did....alright i am a little distracted right now but LOVE TO ALL YOU MAMA"S AND MAMA"S TO BE! Wynch....your boy is beautimous and special indeed! I also had a hard time initially bonding and nursing as well....but that's another story!
Best of luck to the expectant ladies, you will do great no matter what!

Thanks pixelpixie! A belated congrats to you as well...i think i held my breath reading about your labor and delivery with your boy....you are very strong, wise and brave. and i am AMAZED that you pushed your lil girl out so quickly - WOW! Karma for you being such an enduring, good sport over the loooong pushing with your son perhaps? whew. i am sweating with all this labor talk.
