Today I was babysitting for a couple who just moved into a new house. I let their little chihuahua out to pee and I checked the parameters of the fence for holes, as I wasn't familiar with the territory. I saw one hole in the fence covered by bricks and a board wedged there. It seemed (i know i know, ASSUME NOTHING) safe enough, and being a lovely day I thought I would let him frolick outside a bit while I went to check on the napping babe. About 5 minutes later, or less maybe, I went to let him in and he was gone. The bricks were moved aside and the board had fallen over....we are talking a little dog and a few heavy bricks...he must have really wanted to get out....I FEEL TERRIBLE about this....the dad rushed home and never looked me in the face and was crying and running all around the neighborhood looking. I would have gone scouting for the dog right away after I found out but of course, sleeping or not, I did not feel comfortable leaving the napping baby alone even a second, not to mention I had my 5 month old girl in my arms. I drove around the neighborhood about an hour after it happened for about an hour and a half looking to no avail. **I really need positive thoughts and energy sent towards the dog's reunification with his family (his name is Chico).** I am trying my hardest not to fear the worst and wish for the best. Thank you knowflakes!!IP: Logged |

I have a pet sitting service...this sort of thing is my worst feared nightmare. Although I am covered by contract, (the pet owners sign a contract that is filled out covering exactly what is to be done concerning the animal) I've had it happen...several times...dogs that are always in the back yard even all day long while their owners work and never try to escape get very creative when the owners are away. I hope you've already got him back. If you haven't, however...posting flyers in the area is the best way to find him. Since that type of dog is so cute and attractive there is a possibility who ever finds him will want to keep him...SO...it is a good idea to put something on the flyers concerning a special medical condition or the dog needing medication. It works every time. Positive thoughts your way.... IP: Logged |

Thanks everyone, so very kind of you. Alas, still no sign of the little chap but my gut tells me he's ok...now if we could only steer the lil fellow back home, his family misses him. Maybe he needs a little adventure....hmmmm. firestar - that's a good idea, I will let the owner know, he already made a bunch of fliers with an offer for a reward on it. passed them out around the neighborhood. Will keep everyone posted....I will beckon the angels, I already beckoned my list of things I pray to about it, but I left out the angles....they surely have come through for me before! Thanks again - love to all!!IP: Logged |

Spiria, this happens and a traveling dog is a happy dog The two legged is the unhappy ones left behind. This is one of the major reasons a dog/kitty should be tagged with appropriate info to safely return the pet. Please always tag your four leggeds!! Praying for Chico`s safe return home juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

CHICO HAS BEEN FOUND! THANK YOU KIND AND WISE KNOWFLAKES FOR YOUR LOVE,LIGHT AND PRAYERS! Chico's family has been diligent about hadning out flyers. The mama talked to some construction workers who said they had not seen him. She asked them to please keep a flyer and a lookout anyway. 20 minutes later they called her! They had seen him! So she went hiking in the woods by a creek and there he was! Thank goddess, the weather is freezing tonight and he's so tiny, and probably hungry! Now he gets to be warm and snug with his family! Again, I truly appreciate everyone's love and concern, I know it helped! IP: Logged |

I just saw in another thread that Chico was found. I think that Chico and Leader's away time overlapped. I'm happy for Chico and his family and I am happy for you!------------------ "Get some Love in your groove, just get hip to Forgive"-Michael Franks IP: Logged |
