Hey, Knowflakes! It's your old friend AV. So I wanted to know if anybody has any low carb dieting stories to share. I'm a size 5 now and if I could only lose these stupid 10 or 15 pounds I'm sure I could be a size 2 by summer. I'm on a regular diet right now and, as a matter of course, starving. I think the Atkins and the South Beach diets sound awesome because they let you eat virtually as much as you want as long as you keep the carb count down. P.S. Please, no lectures on what a terrible shallow person I am. I already know that!IP: Logged |

Hi Aqua, I haven't tried the South Beach diet but I use Suzanne Somers cookbooks to get super recepies for low carb nuturtionial meals. I have lost 30 pounds on it so I know it works. She says if you are going to eat carbs eat them early in the morning, that way your body has all day to burn them off. I drink th Atkins shakes and they are good. They fill in when you are hungry and don't have time to eat. Good luck with your 10-15 pound loss. You will be really tiny when you get that small. Eat healthy what ever you plan you choose. Whoa, seeshells! 30 pounds! How long did that take? Oh, and I'm soooo sorry about the error in the name of the topic. I could have sworn that was a B. IP: Logged |

I studied nutrition for 2 years in college...I am not a paragon of health myself, but let me remind you all that Dr Atkins is dead now. I believe it is due to the high fat greasy meats that many people cosume on the atkins diet to replace the carbs. Carbs are not evil. there are healthy carb choices, such as wheats, fruits, and veggies. Anything that cuts out an entire food group (atkins) is of course going to make you lose weight. That being said, my older sister is on the "south beach diet" and she likes it very much. It is like a much less- strict and much more nutritionally balanced version of atkins. IP: Logged |
