OK, as I mentioned above, it turns out that the whole project is slated to last two months, not just one (Sept. 20 to Nov. 20). After some soul searching and meditation on the whole idea, I have made the following offer to the powers-that-be behind the international consortium of archaeologists that will be sponsoring this excavation:I will go for one month, but I won't stay past that. I didn't involve them in all my reasoning, but I think you Knowflakes will understand. After doing as much "astral investigation" as possible, I think it would be unwise for me to stay in Egypt once the sun moves into Scorpio. For one thing, I have concerns as to the state of the world immediately before and after the upcoming election. If there is going to be violence in Middle Eastern countries, common sense says that will be prime time for it. I don't know if they will take me for only half the time, because their expense for air fare, etc will be the same as if I go for the whole project. So the ball is in their court. I suspect that if they can find someone else with the same type expertise who will stay the whole time, that person will be selected. But who knows? The ball is in their court. In the end, even with all the considerations of family and danger, the chance to personally explore the secrets of Abydos won out. Ra... if those aren't some kind of air craft, I'll kiss a sand dollar. I have to go have a look for myself. The coolest thing is that as archaeologists, we get to go places that no one else gets into. The Egyptian government is very much in control of these sites (as it should be) and they won't even allow pictures of lots of the heiroglyphs and artifacts. I can't wait to see what is hidden at Abydos. IP: Logged |

FishKitten, to me, your reasoning is sound...and by offering it to the Universe, you will get the right outcome for you. IP: Logged |

It is real. In the Temple of Abydos, begun by Seti I and completed by his son Ramesses II{?), dedicated to Osiris. Here is a link to part of the story : http://www.enterprisemission.com/tombsweb3.html He talks about these Central/South American artifacts as well ... Sorry Fish Kitten! I didn't mean to divert your string! I think we are all envious of your possible adventure. IP: Logged |
