My son has been injured while working in the Alberta oil fields. With some surgeries and a long period of physical therapy, he should be OK again, but it will be a very long road. Wow. You people are the greatest. Thank you so much for all the good vibes going out to Dave. It warms my heart and makes me know everything will be as it should be. At this point, Dave is doing pretty well. I worry about his mindset, but with all the love and light going his way, no wonder he is beginning to sound a bit more cheerful. Most of his injuries are pretty superficial, but the worst part is his left arm. He almost lost it. The surgeons have reattached his ligaments and have a lot of hope for a good recovery. He will need one more surgery next week, then he can come home. The issue is whether he will have use of the fingers on his left hand. You see, Dave is an extremely talented guitarist and piano player (plus saxophone and a ton of other instruments). Music has always been a huge part of his life. That is his foundation and it is the safe place to which he goes when the world starts to stress him. The thought of that being gone is almost overwhelming. Plus, Dave has always made his living with his hands. He was never the academic type like me. He always prefered building and carpentry. That is also threatened. He was only going to the oilfield for a bit to save up enough money to buy a little place of his own. Now he feels his whole life has been ripped away. But I am hopeful. Once he gets home, he will have a support network of family and friends. With physical therapy and love and attention, I'm sure he will recover fully. Thank all you Knowflakes once again. Thanks for sharing Fishkitten I know this is a devastating time for you and your family.
