Hey ya'll - I was reading one of the threads here in FFA in which pid wrote the following: Myself, well, I see my roll, to some extent, is to challenge, but to also accept that others have differing beliefs and belief systems. What's your roll? That is, what do you see as your overriding purpose or lesson while here? Or do you think that you don't have one, or that it can't be narrowed down so? IP: Logged |

I think the main role in life surely must be to experience. Are we talking goals?IP: Logged |

*dinner rolls...mmmm...garlic-y dinner rolls...even better*Der, she's taking my attention away from detail, apparently. I didn't even notice that you (and I) had written "roll" rather than "role". The kiddo was on my lap pummeling my chest into a pulp with her legs at the time, though...I was in a hurry to write that post. Re: Meg, herself the elf: She's getting so much more responsive. I changed her into a onesie after changing her diaper earlier today, and when I dropped it on her saying, "Pink Baby!" she gave me a big, gummy grin; and last night we had her propped up on the arm of the couch (b/c she gets frustrated not being able to see everything). She whipped her head around, following all of my moves while Jase and I made dinner (into the kitchen, into the dining room, into the living room) and smiled as I'd come over and give her kisses and zerberts. Here she is a few minutes ago: (Yes, she's sleeping on her belly. She was playing on her belly but got bored with that...which has allowed me to venture into the office and post. I'm checking on her compulsively every few minutes.) Aaand now we're off to take a walk up to the Post Library to return a CD that I'd borrowed. Keep thinking of your answers, people! Pid already has a head start on you with her quote about her "roll". *shakes head* *hits own forehead with palm of hand* IP: Logged |

What's your roll? Or Role? I like what Bernadette Peters said, best: Why try to be like somebody else? Who would they get to play YOU? Proxie, my elves BOTH slept on their stomachs, despite my very best efforts. If that's how she wants to sleep, don't panic. Besides, if she's already turning her head, it's less of an issue anyway. Well - I think Proxie is looking for how we perceive ourselves to be on this forum or in life in general. Do you see yourself as the peacemaker, the student, the warrior, the defender, the enlightened one..etc.. Are you someone that feels a sense of duty to help those in need of love advice, general astro advice, alternative education..etc..
As I stated earlier, I feel the need to challenge, to find the answers to "provoke" while still "learning". If someone posts something to do directly or indirectly about certain venues, especially science, well that compels me to answer, to reinforce or to dispute. Does that make sense? IP: Logged |

Interesting, Prox. I would say peoples roles (or rolls tee hee) change over time, as they become more self aware. Having said that....I think my role has to do with helping people peel back the layers of their own personality 'onion', thus helping them to grow into thems-Elves. I do this mainly through astrology, as it can really hit people on a profound level. Astrology is great for this, because people can gain wonderful insights about themselves through it, and all the credit goes to the science of Astrology, so they don't have to feel intimidated by me, I'm just the messenger. I love to play a part in helping people to shine, and be the best they can be. Whethor they're aware of my part in it or not...it don't make no nevermind to me. I, like the Blues Brothers, am "on a mission from God". LOL... I don't know if I do it all that much in here. More just in my personal life, with people close to me. I come here to try to expand my own horizons, to have more to give back in my personal life. I think so. IP: Logged |

Yes, I understand, but surely our roles change all the time? We are mothers, lovers, warriors, healers, educators, etc. etc. etc. Don't we all have multiple roles? Can we be just one?If I had to choose one thing. I can honestly say I really don't know which one it would be. Perhaps I have multiple personality disorder... Help! IP: Logged |

First and foremostWhat a sweet baby!!!!! OK on to me. My roll is to be the friend who understands. I always...understand...it took along time for me to learn that just because you understand why people do what they do it doesn't mean you have to condone it...and just because someone causes you harm and you forgive them it doesn't mean that you have to let them miss treat you again... That is an excellent question, proxieme. As soon as I saw it, I became at least as interested in everyone's answers as the person who asked it!I only wish I had an answer for you myself. I have no idea what my role is; so far in lfe I feel like so much flotsam and jetsam. Oh, and... ...babies are so sweet. I wish yours the best of luck in life. IP: Logged |

I guess I didn't finish my thought out loud. My role is me. Sometimes that's Mom-mom, or wife, or friend, etc. But I'm trying to make sure I always like, and recognize the crab peeking back at me in the mirror. Whatever else I'm called to be, I just try to flow with. Sometimes successfully. But if I'm not true TO me, I can't me Truly Me! Kells PS--If you're gonna pin me down on it, I'm the warm, fuzzy, Mom-friend everyone relies on during the crunch. IP: Logged |

She's sooo beautiful, proxie. My roll? Make it stone-ground whole wheat, with garlic, warmed in the oven and dipped in olive oil. My role? To eat the above. Oh, and to antagonize people.

Maybe that thing banging it's head is a t-roll. Either that or the Pillsbury Dough Boy" had an argument with the "T-roll- House Cookie Guy. "It's Elfen magic" Sometimes I just can't be serious. I will ponder the question though.IP: Logged |

Tee hee... I missed this question last night.. and it is so scrumptious!I just don't know the answer to that. It definately changes.... as does anything. I am a 'niche filler'. If someone needs me to be something, I will do my darndest with my meager stubborn limitations, to be what they need, while being true to myself. So I will fit into the square hole, but I will do it with flair and very loudly. I have learned so much here. Thank you everyone. I am here to learn love. Where it fits and what it means. Maybe that is profound, as it just popped in my head. hmmm. IP: Logged |

Proxie, your baby is SO BEAUTIFUL! And she looks so peaceful sleeping there (I bet you're thinking, ah, you don't have her waking up screaming in the middle of the night- the girl's got lungs!)I don't know if I have a role. But if I do think about what my role might be, I think it's to enjoy the world around me as much as possible and to enable other people to enjoy it as much.

Meg is such a cutie! What a joy for you and Scatbug. When I was a child, my role was Peacemaker. That was because I lived with a bunch of over-excited, hard-drinking adults who spent the majority of their time fighting and doing a variety of mean things to each other. I was the only "child" in the group, but almost constantly felt I was the only real adult. Now my role seems to be manyfold. Student / Teacher is one. (You can't teach without learning and you can't learn without teaching, it seems.) Another is mother-type person because in addition to my own son and step-son, I tend to make sure everyone I know had a good lunch and are wearing warm shoes and have gotten over their fear of the dark and have seen the roses in bloom and know for sure that there is nothing to worry about and have heard about the fairies dancing under the moon, etc. Finally, one of my roles is witness. I'm pretty sure I came here to witness something big happening in the world so that I can be satisfied that what goes down was what was meant to be and that there was not, in fact, a better way (which I could eventually think of given the opportunity). oh what sweet irony!I would have to say my roll is very often the same as pidaua's. One of the few knowflakes I consistently bump heads with and yet am soo similar to in other ways. lol ----------- "Four billion years ago planet Earth was molten rock; and now it sings opera." :::Brian Swimme, physicist/cosmologist

Mine has changed many times The heavy Uranus influence keeps my role from being consistant. I just go with what I`m given. ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |
