I think it's been pretty much settled that he is a hoax.Check out daf's "5 Questions" thread in Oranges and Hyacinths, for some more info on John Titor. One of the things that struck me was the lack of specifics in regards to the future. It's been a while since I read some of the stuff attributed to this time traveler, so my memory may be faulty. But although he told us, what, was it war or some sort of destruction was coming, he didn't explain much about how it happened. Again, it's been a while, and I have to leave for work shortly, but I'll read it again.
But look at the other thread of which I spoke, there is a direct link to one of the sites that disproves the John Titor myth, and there are several that do. I think silverbells has done extensive reading on him, she may have more insight.

Thanks juni, I hadn't read through that thread, but I am now. Only had a little time, I'll finish it later. But I think he's just a clever hoax. And I haven't read through that whole string yet, but didn't he once give himself an 'out' by saying that his future could be skewed as slightly away from our future? In other words, a similar but parallel world. Dunno, but it's still interesting. IP: Logged |

Here is the link to the discussion in O & A:http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/000222.htmlHere is the link to one of the websites discussing his alleged time machine, and disproving it: http://www.anomalies.net/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=001138 It's fascinating reading, thank Juni, I read through the other string. My vote is still "hoax," though I will concede that some of the things he says are uncanny. I suppose part of the question has to be, "What is the Future?" If all time is happening simulataneously, then in theory, we don't even need a machine, just a 'Wrinkle In Time.' (that reference only works if you've read the book!) And if all time exists Here and Now, if the future has already happened, then, it can't be changed, right? We have no free will or choices. John's 'out' on that is the parallel world lines, but those don't really change the future, right? They just move you to another, similar one. Dunno, but it presents interesting spiraling.
