Don't feel silly...silly! I have a knack for asking the most childish questions. The answers are usually more simple and to the point. You'd be surprised at how much you learn when you ask simple questions!
I'm an adult child anyway.

OK. This is sooooooooo weird.
I was telling my boyfriend how last night I had a dream that we had TWO rabbits. I was rambling on about the dream when he interupted me to say he ALSO had a dream with rabbits in it, but that's all he could remember. He just knew he dreamt about rabbits.

Then what happens?? I log onto Linda Land and see the post "rabbit rabbit" !!!!!!

I have been having so many weird "coincidences" like this lately. What is going on?? I feel like I'm living in a dream land. What ever I think lately, happens, or I hear or read something about it.

Does anyone know what rabbits symbolize? I must find out. I will try to find info on this, but does anyone here know? I think Native American Indians believed in animals an that they symbolize things.

I have also NOT heard of saying "rabbit rabbit" on the first of the month for good luck.

Dont feel silly twinkletoes. There was a reason why you posted this. I'm just in shock about this. I dreamt of TWO rabbits!!
Not one - two!!

Maybe I'll hit the lottery this month.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you, 26

Interesting paras. Why are rabbits bad omens for you? You may find this info interesting since they DO mean something to you - even though it's bad.
I think animal omens in dreams or waking life will represent different things to different people, depending on their feelings towards that animal. Like someone may for some reason or another like frogs, and another may not even be able to touch one. Blah, Blah, Blah you know what I mean.

Anyway I just got back from my search and found tons of info. on rabbit totems. Seeing them in dreams waking life. It was all quite fascinating. Here is some of what I found out.

ANIMAL SYMBOLISM
When we come across certain animals in our lives it can be an indication that they are put in our path to give us messages from Spirit about what it is that we need to focus on in our personal healing at that moment in time. Below are some generalities about different animals and what it means when we have contact with them.

RABBIT - helps conquer fear. It is also about fertility and new life. The more we focus on our fears the more we attract them to us. Rabbit medicine teaches us to attract to us abundance, love, health, and a warm, dry burrow. Rabbit sacrifices self for others to live.

Hare / Rabbit
Associated with transformation, the receiving of hidden teachings, and intuitive messages.

Rabbit
Rabbit teaches Fertility and Self-Preservation.
Rabbit is commonly associated with birth due to its tremendous fertility. A baby rabbit is able to fend for itself within 28 days of its birth. This is significant in that the cycle of the moon is also 28 days, suggesting a mystical connection to the moon. The truth of the matter is that rabbits cannot actually count higher than 28. Most of its head mass, usually reserved for brains, is taken up by its huge ears. Because of these ears, it would be natural to assume that Rabbit has good hearing. In fact, the opposite is true. The massive ears are not used for hearing, as one would think, but rather to receive short-wave radio transmissions; Rabbit's chief means of communication.

Rabbit's medicine includes moving through fear, living by one's own wits, receiving hidden teachings and intuitive messages, quick thinking, strengthening intuition, and paradox. Rabbit also represents humility, because he is quiet and soft and not self-asserting. Rabbit reminds us not to be afraid. Fearful thoughts reproduce (like rabbits) and bring the very thing we fear. Rabbit people are so afraid of tragedy, illness, and disaster, that they call those very fears to them to teach them lessons. If you see Rabbit or in any way feel attracted to him, it may be telling you to wait for the forces of the universe to start moving again, to stop worrying and to get rid of your fears. It always indicates a need to re-evaluate the process you are undergoing, to rid yourself of any negative feelings or barriers, and to be more humble.

Rabbit:nurturing family loving, alert and energetic adaptable

Rabbit - To dream of rabbits denotes faithfulness in love and a great friendship.

Guile, Paradox and contradiction, Living by one’s own wits, Receiving hidden teachings and intuitive messages, Quick-thinking, Humility, Moving through fear, Strengthening intuition
There are two dozen species of Cottontails in the United States, all with similar characteristics. Rabbits are vegetarians eating the inner bark of saplings and shrubs as well as leaves and fruit. They provide a perfect illustration of Nature's balance. Their rapid rate of reproduction is countered by the fact that almost every predatory animal eats them. Cottontail rabbits are quite timid, never venturing too far from the safety of their warrens. Rabbit teaches us through its timidity, to be gentle with ourselves in all situations.
The rabbit is often associated with fear because of the nervous energy it expends. They move suddenly and unpredictably. They hop and leap through life asking those with this totem to pay attention to their personal movement. Growth is assured if one is moving in balance with what is in their life. If they are moving to fast or to slow an imbalance occurs and growth is stifled.
Rabbits are most visible during dawn and dusk. The sun rising and setting from horizon to horizon holds an air of mystique about it. It is a time when the invisible becomes visible and nature spirits are more pronounced. Because the rabbit and the fairy realms are active during the same time of day it has a strong connection with the magic and mystery of other worlds. To enter this world all that is required is a leap of faith.
Sensitive with keen observation skills, the rabbit has strong reflexes that help them dash to safety quickly protecting themselves from danger. They can be seen, disappear and reappear in the twinkling of an eye. Fast, agile and clever they hold the teachings of spontaneous decisive movement. Always knowing which direction to go and when. When rabbit appears it is enabling you to take advantage of opportunities that may only present themselves for brief moments.
Rabbits are guides into the shadow world, where all of our personal fears lie. When the rabbit appears it is time to examine those deep reflexive fears that hold you back from growing. Do you keep dashing for the safety of your old patterns every time something new or challenging presents itself? If so the rabbit asks you to face your fears with compassion for yourself. Accept that it is part of human nature to feel fear at times, but also believe that our fears need not paralyze our growth and movement.

Thought maybe some of you might find this interesting. Or maybe next time you see or dream of an animal you will take a closer look and see what the meanings are behind it. And the message it may be presenting to you.

And twinkletoes thank you for starting this post. Although you didn't intend to, you have given me much to think about.

hmm... i found some stuff...:

"…the following belief is common in many parts of Great Britain, with local variants: To secure good luck of some kind, usually a present, one should say ‘Rabbits’ three times just before going to sleep on the last day of the month, and then ‘Hares’ three times on waking the next morning"

‘I hope everybody here will remember to say ‘Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit’ first thing in the morning."

"On the first day of the month when you wake up in the morning shout ‘White Rabbit’ and when you go to bed at night shout ‘Black Rabbit’ and you will have good luck."

"The first words you say for a lucky month are ‘White Rabbits.’ If you can remember to say that twelve times a year, you’ll have a very lucky year.."

its a great britain thing? maybe i'm secretly british... no wonder i love the accents so much

26taurus,

I confess I wasn't completely serious about rabbits being a bad omen for me. I used one as an excuse once, and for several years after it seemed that a rabbit sighting would precede unfortunate events in my life. The curse seems to have worn off, though.

I like what you posted about the "meanings" of rabbits. According to Chinese astrology, I was born in the year of the Rabbit.

paras,
I see. Yes, luckily the curse wore off.
Glad you liked the rabbit "meanings".
And I'm a horse. In chinese astrology of course.

Ha! Ha! a horse of course! La la la la la La la! Ok I forget the words. I think its the Mr Ed jingle.
I know - I'm a cheeseball!
Damn it! Now the song's stuck in my head and I can't remember the words.

Twinkletoes,
Thanks for the info.....interesting.
But I'm afraid if I shout "Black Rabbit" when I go to bed at night, my boyfriend might get just a little p!ssed! He's usually in bed way before I am. It may be a little startling to him, and he'd probably think I had finally completely lost it!

Well.... a horse is a horse, of course of course, unless of course it's a talking horse, and then of course that talking horse, his name is Mr.Ed.

I think that's how it goes.

You could always start a verse of "White Rabbit", and he'll just think you popped some mushrooms before bed.

I am a DRRRRAAAAGGGGOOOONNNNN.... Boooo! ( Married to a Tiger, rrrroooowwwrrr)

Yeah, thanx Philbird! Now that ones stuck in my head!! Youre too much!

Pixel!! Yes!! that's the way it goes!

If I told him I popped some 'shrooms before I went to bed, he would be furious I didnt share!! --- I'm serious.

Tonight we are going out like we usually do Saturday nights. He usually sings a Kareoke song or two. It's pretty hilarious.
Maybe I'll sing Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" tonight ! "One pill makes you smaller......."

I just posted back to you about Joni Mitchell in the Universal forum, got a little carried away. I'm listening to her right now!

Talk to ya soon, sweet pea!
