Please meet the angel of truth. If we shouldnt lie not even to ourselves then this means acting with the upmost awareness of what is our own personal truth. Being true to others and ourselves means accepting what what we think and feel, and not pretending to others or ourselves that we feel a different way. Granted it doesnt mean forcing our views onto others, it means not denying them. How do we balance this honesty with integrity and without hurting others? What if, we were to honour what is our truth, and that truth would completely alter our lives as we're currently living it, and lets say the ripples if not the aftermath would deeply affect others, particularly our children (who are the innocent ones). To change our ways and to act with this new found honesty would surely do more damage then just letting things be as they are and carrying on with "some" of the lies. I say some because obviously there are many little things which we can change and are obviously for the good not just for ourselves but for others. So which is they way that is acting with love for all things? ourselves included because, we must be loving and accepting of ourselves in order to be able to love and accept others. What do we change and what do we look at and just accept and let be? Any input from anyone on this would be greatly appreciated. Orchid x IP: Logged |

Stick to the truth, nothing will serve you or anyone else better. You said that to be honest would cause more damage than to continue with lies. Not so! Sometimes what seems like damage in the short term turns out to be better for all involved in the long run. IP: Logged |

I'm on my way out the door right now. This will be a brief reply. I will try to expound further when I get home.Again and again on this site, we speak almost casually about the "reality" of our personal perspectives, opinions and thoughts, labelling them truth. We say YOUR truth and MY truth and our truth and their truth. In a most noble act of opinion preservation, we graciously offer to allow everyone to entertain their OWN truth. We are tolerant, as if the right and the power to "put up with" another's perspectives was ours. Say what you will, beat this naysayer about the head and shoulders with a rehashing of the same rhetoric over and over again and you will not change this fact: there IS Truth. A single Truth broken into many facets, but discernible through that distortion. Can we know the ONE single Truth? I believe it is possible. Can we believe the one single Truth? I'm not sure at this time. Certainly to be centered on the Path, you must be honest. But it is not an honesty born of perspective..not a "truth" born of the mind and its excitation complex. Being true to you and being true to yourself are not necessarily the same thing. As I mentioned before, there is a spirit within us that KNOWS the Truth. This spirit knows it, would speak it and act upon it, but cannot for so long as we embrace the body and mind's whims...shutting it out. How can you be honest without hurting others? For as long as the "truth" of your wants and acts would hurt others, you aren't embracing the Truth. You are living the lie. Love, daf P.S. I'll be back in a few hours. See you in the chat when I do. have been pondering on this since posting it, and have come to the conclusion, soemtimes what we "think" is our truth actually isn't. Sometimes there is a reason why we are where we are, sometimes we need to become still, then go within and feel what is really our truth. Not the truth that our minds or society would have us believe is our truth. And yes your right Daf if what we "think" is our truth would hurt others then we aren't being truthfully true. Thanks for everyones input - including the people who helped me with this verbally.
