Bigfoot, Of course there are certain "rules" to be followed, to bring all of the people playing the instruments togther to sound harmonious. I'm not going to argue this anymore. Thank you for your thoughts.IP: Logged |

Ahhh! Chaos ensues! Instruments banging and clanging together, and sounds like you've never heard before, and then you begin to realize.. hey, this sounds pretty neat.. this disorder, this unorthodox sound.. This must be what the Beatles were thinking. Or you all climax together, finding a rhythm and tempo, and feed off each other in harmony despite the disharmony. Rules schmules, I am a free thinker especially in music. Nothing to argue about! Sometimes rules are incredible... look at Astrology! Sometimes rules aren't needed.I'm a singer, let me take the stage too! IP: Logged |

I don't have to boss anyone around -- music does it for you. Try as you may, you can't escape the rules of music. Even some of the most "chaotic" sounding music is more order than most may realise.IP: Logged |

Nah. The Beatles just ripped off composers who were already successful with contemporary recording and composing techniques. See: Music Concrete, Varese, and Stockhausen.IP: Logged |

C'mon, you don't have to ask.... That was a pretty generic and broad thing you said about the Beatles. They were exporative and dynamic, always changing and learning and not afraid to adapt.. It can be said that everything has been done before, as the world is long in it's history. But to sweep the Beatles under the rug with generalizations? You must not know them as well as you could.IP: Logged |

I like The Beatles. I really do. Loved 'em all my life. But when I found out about Varese and Stockhausen, I realised they weren't all that original - but even to this day, I still like them. For specifics, try listening to "Revolution #9," and then listen to some Stockhausen and / or Varese. Here are some links: http://csunix1.lvc.edu/~snyder/em/varesel.html http://csunix1.lvc.edu/~snyder/em/varese.html And the clincher: http://www.stockhausen.org/beatles_khs.html After that, tell me how original you think they are. Sure, they were good and fun. But not very original. Then again, who cares? What does it matter? My original gripe was that one must adhere to the rules set by music itself. Feel and inspiration and all that aren't enough. Rules must be followed, even during improvisation. Just accept it. IP: Logged |

Bigfoot? Why ya goin' all Yoko Ono on us now? Youre breakin' up the band........man.No Arguin'! No Rules! (except for No Arguin') Not allowed! Bad Bigfoot. Maybe you should just drive our tour bus, you know, just to ensure we arrive at our shows on time. You seem like you could follow the traffic rules best. Just don't talk. No arguing. We will pay you extra. And sorry but the Beatles are extremely talented and completely rock! Very original. __________________________________________ Please don't take any of this too seriously. I know youre new here. We are nice people. Don't take offense - it's all in good fun. We all have our own opinions.

Denny Crane.I'm no bus driver. That would be a waste of my talent. How about if I manage the band so I can cheat you out of all your money, if any? I AM a Capricorn, after all. Anyway, I'm not trying to argue. I'm just trying to get you to look at the facts. You did look at them, didn't you? And I never broke up The Beatles. I hate Yoko. I still love The Beatles - it's just that now I know where they got all their ideas from. IP: Logged |

Bigfoot, it`s been said many times so and so stole my idea, music et al. All ideas are from the Uni-versal conscious and and is there for those on that wave length so to speak. It does seem that specific intelligence is achieved in a close time period by like minded souls. . Look at Tesla & Edison. So many other instances to name. I do not believe it is stealing or copying; simply a breakthru of conscious as it was ment to be at the right time, in the right place by the right people. I love the Beatles and in particular, John juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

One fine morning, Big Daddy was compelled to make waves. He went out on the Sea of Contemporary Music and did so. The waves were mighty and fierce, and caused much controversy. Decades later, the waves reached the Shores of Pop Music, where the (illegitimate [1]) Children of Big Daddy surfed on them for a short while, then became fickle and played on the beach. The Shores of Pop Music is always a safe place to be. 1: http://www.sisqtel.net/~zacky4330/about_classical_guitar.html IP: Logged |

I used to play the voilin. It's been ages since I've picked one up.I also used to take private voice lessons and was in a madrigal choir (by audition only). I placed all 1s and 2s in a vocal competition my Freshman year of high school (1 being the highest 4 being the lowest). I've sorta lost my gift of song over the years. Hubby plays guitar (electric and accustic) and bass. My BIL is an aspiring rapper. He's pretty good too. Crooked T. Watch out for that name some day IP: Logged |
