As I skip from forum to forum, viewing the various topics posted, it is sometimes all I can do to hold back a deep sense of frustration. Many postings are presented in a somewhat "shrouded" manner, seemingly catered to "those who are in the KNOW" versus those who are not in the know. Layer upon esoteric layer practically ensures that those who do not have any prior knowledge of the topic (whatever it may be) being discussed will surely be left feeling .....isolated. At least, this is how I sometimes feel. Just plain "left out". Are there any others of you who feel the same way? Do you sometimes not wish that thoughts/ideas/revelations (call them what you will) posted on this site are presented in such a manner that is more forthright and without as many frills, so to speak? I feel sometimes that I am not a member of the "secret club" somehow......

Or are these the pinings of just another overly sensitive Pisces???

Which?
The wavy-smiley?

I thought that we had a waving smiley on here, but when I checked our smiles legend nothing showed; so I put in a search for "waving smiley" on google and that's one of the first things that came up.
Its URL is: http://d21c.com/walpurgis9/happies/faces2/102.gif

If you're talking about the ticker, it can be found on www.lilypie.com .

Happy Friday quiksilver

I am not aware of any 'secret clubs' on any level here. If you all were in expectation of that response, I didn`t disappoint anyone

Everyone is welcomed to join a discussion. If they need clarification, someone provides insight or a link to fill the conversation out. If one is lost in the subject matter, asking questions is the best way to get to the gist of it. No need to feel left out .

I try to remember that like attracts like. With that thought, I understand conversations usually attract knowflakes interested in and with a working knowledge of the subject matter so a lot of basics are ommited. What may appear as secret is simply skipping on the the heart of the discussion.

That is why I never feel left out of what could be perceived of a secret club when Knowflakes discuss t.v., new music idols, movies, Eastern religions, politics ect.. It is simply something I am not well versed in and if I have a need to know; I don`t feel left out,I ask. Of course, the Aqua in me views things differently than a Pisces and thats a good balance

If I speak in frills, speak out and I will try to be clearer.

Yup, I'll echo Juni. No one here has a monopoly on reason or enlightenment.

If there's a string that interests you but that you are unclear about, chances are if you ask pertinent questions lots of Knowflakes will assist you.

Sometimes i get the impression here that people try to use big words and confusing sentances to seem to be MORE in the know. Didn't linda teach us that simple is the most profound. All of my insights and moments of growth are usually based on quite simple truths but I remember a time in my own growth where I thought complex was more real.

There better not be any secret clubs unless I'm a member. *winks and does secret handshake*

Quiksilver, I often feel 'forgotten' here. But on the other hand I'm not toooo vocal about my opinions, feelings and emotions. I'm more of an observer than an active participant in the discussion.
The forum to me resembles real life communication - if you don't make an effort to get noticed - you simply won't be noticed.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the responses. I didn't really mean secret club in the literal sense. I'm really just trying to get a general idea across.
Juni, you said that what might appear as being secret is just skipping to the heart of the discussion. I agree with you that in some cases, this is what is going on. In other cases, there's something different going on. For instance, I've come across phrases such as "It would not be appropriate to reveal such information at this time", and the like. My feeling is if it's something that can't be brought out into the open, why bring it up at all? It makes me feel (and maybe I am alone in this feeling) like there is some sort of "Knowflake Hierarchy". I've even come to tire of the term "Knowflake". How much do we really know, after all? Maybe "Know-seeking-flake" would be better.... Anyway, I also agree with you, thirteen, in the sense that sometimes complexity just serves to stir the already muddied waters. It is refreshing to be able to get simply to the point......

Hey Pix! I'm good thanks. Visiting with my brother in Washington DC, but got into an accident last night and now he doesn't want to go out. So I'm stuck like Chuck in his house and I so want to go sightseeing!
There!
And how are you doing, Pixie?

Psssst...Randall...The Eagle lands at midnight, and the dog needs a bone.

EX-NAY on the UB-CLAY.

I feel that way too sometimes, quiksilver. If it sounds interesting, I'll be the dummy and ask "what do you mean? What are you talking about? Why is this and that?", but if the subject doesn't really intrigue me, I'll just skip it, allowing more room in my head for something else.

I often feel left out but I'm *certain* it's not a purposeful thing on the part of 99% of the people here. It's an internal thing.

I'm sorry you're feeling isolated and frustrated!!

Everybody involved is fine. My brother's car has a huge dent in the bumper but other than that everything is fine.
Thank you for asking, Pixie.

ah quiksilver, you made it much plainer to me now.

quote:
For instance, I've come across phrases such as "It would not be appropriate to reveal such information at this time",

Being my interpetation only, but I fit that into four catagories.

1. I wanna tell but you must you cajole me into releasing the info.

2. I don`t really know but I wish to sound as tho I do.

3. I`m uncertain if i have the correct info/meaning so I won`t reveal what I have yet.

4. It is something that you should go within to know and understand.

If none of the above work for me and I genuinely care, I simply ask why.

I`m aware my opinion only address`s that one example/concern. I uess I`m saying I`m responsible to ascertain the meaning and if it`s not clear address it or bypass it without finding anything perturbing in it.

Yin...so glad you are alright. Enjoy D.C. if you can! I spent four wonderful years in college in D.C., what a cool city. I was just there recently, and it made me a bit wistful for city life.

Speaking of college...thirteen, I don't think anyone should be penalized for having/using a vocabulary. It's just a way to express one's self. If one is only using it for self-aggrandizement, then I suppose that's a different issue. But vocabulary in and of itself is benign.

Now,I'm not fond of secrets either. When someone says "I know, but I can't say," I figure s/he he doesn't know much that I care about anyway and just move on. Too childish to say "I know but you're not ready." Blah.

If we wanted to keep things simple, we wouldn't need to be here. Because simply put, all you need is love, life, breathe, food, water. And blow-dryers. Must have. Oh and room-service. Not interested in roughing it, nope nope nope. And eyeliner. Lipstick. Oh and I must have that jacket in the new L.L. Bean catalog....

happy happy joy joy everyone, it's the weekend. *kiss kiss*

Hey Trill, I hear you about the city life. My first reaction walking in the streets of this beautiful city was' I wanna live here' Nothing is build higher than the Capitol so there are no intimidating skyscrapers And the Mall (the place where all the Smithsonians are) is magnificent. I love this city! I'm so sad that I have to leave tomorrow

Sheaa, when are you going to be over at linda-chat.tk ? Let me know so we can talk
