I posted this in HC too... There's been this really cute little black kitten hanging out below our second floor apartment. The kids have been playing with her, and she's been following them around. I insisted the didn't let her follow them upstairs and each time they played with her I made them take her back to the spot where they originally found her. Well... yesterday morning Mau Kitty was calling at the front door to be let in from his night of who knows what but before he walked in he allowed this little kitten to enter first. Then he mosied over to his food dish stopping every now and then to be sure the kitten was following THEN he sat by and allowed her to eat her fill before he began eating... something he has NEVER done with our cat. Infact, when your cat Little (female) is eating if he walks up, it's pretty much known that she must pause and wait for him to eat his fill.
THEY ARE SO CUTE!!! When she's out of his eyesight he meows this deep belly meow I've never heard him make before. He looks all over for her until he finds her. Then, he just sits and watches her... occasionally playing with her. He even twitches his tail for her entertainment. They are both so cute I could squeese them until they POP! Ok... so this kitten. She's 9 weeks old at the most. 9 week old kitties don't roam free. They belong to people. Can't steel someone's cat. I've gone door to door in the complex and no one owns her. She could have come to this huge housing development behind our apartments... but eh.. that seems like a lot of work. What do you guys think I should do about this kitty who has seemingly adopted our family? I've opened the door lots of times for the big kitties to go out and play. She has no interest. She won't go out. My kids already named her Shegwa (like Sagwa (Amy Tan's book and the PBS series). She loves us. Is it wrong to keep her? It's out of the question to take her to the pound. If she isn't found... well then... you know what will happen. I wasn't looking for a thrid cat, but it seems to me this one picked us.

It is destined.. we rarely acquire the binds to our hearts in traditional ways. Your Cat has chosen his soulmate. Be happy with your new family!!! How sweet and interesting! Keep her, keep her!!!! You know she will have more love where she is.. consider it a selfless gesture. Besides, I don't think your cat will let her out of his sight. Meow. That is so cute!IP: Logged |

Aw Pix, I knew I could count on your support! Thanks.I want people's opinions mostly because I want to make sure I'm doing the right think by keeping her. I hope some poor kid's not crying out there because his/her kitty ran away BUT OOOH she's so sweet and cute. She lets me hold her like a baby (on her back) and just sleeps and sleeps in my arms. She slept with me last night all curled up on my pillow making sure to be touching some part of me with some part of her all night. I'm already totally in love with this lil kitty. IP: Logged |

I agree with pixie, LibraSparkle, she is yours!Chances are someone dropped her off, abandoned her. I live on what was once a farm, and people assume animals will be taken care of, and they just drop them off. It hasn't happend for a long time. But a 9 week kitten was probably left, hoping someone kind would take it. And there you were! She's yours...oh, I'm so happy for the little thing. IP: Logged |

Awesome story!! I'm so jealous, I can't have a cat where I live, my Libra's dog wouldn't take too kindly to one. And if I could, if it got out, the poor thing wouldn't have much of a chance, very busy intersection. Thanks for sharing that with us!! She's definately yours now!! Ghani IP: Logged |

She's great! Loving it here. I gave her a flea bath yesterday. She had a ton of fleas. Eww... it was gross. But now she's even softer and cuter! IP: Logged |
