(We're going to lose! Should've chosen a German beer.)My Miller beer and I were sitting around....ok we weren't...we were thinking about chatting, when we noticed that some people were talking about ME (my Miller beer tittered a bit..stupid turncoat beer!) and behind my back like they do on those soap opera things that my wife likes to watch!! Ok, so my beer thought I would be irked, but to tell the truth, I wasn't irked at all. In fact, I thought the whole thing was pretty urfin amusing. Let me explain why. Basically, it was a couple of normally rational people playing the part of clueless morons (I'd have to assume it was because they had nothing better to do with their time than spew their inability to comprehend all over the chatroom like a thick porridge of THIS-IS-WHAT-I-THINK-HE-MEANT. My beer thinks they were trying to answer a question they saw on jeopardy. Like I said, it's probably time to switch beers.) To whit, these individuals...who know who they are, claim that I am AGAINST people who have money. For the record, my father is a registered clinical psychologist who makes much more money than I ever have and I've hit the 39% tax bracket more times than I'd care to mention. My dad works HARD for his money and deserves EVERY penny of it. I remember when he used to work for jacksquat down at a United Way funded agency (he was there for 13 years, making peanuts) and used to work 18 hour days just to get his private practice going. (Hold on, my beer needs more attention.) But see, these people are stuck in their own war against the have-nots, and so they assume that I am one. They are wrong. Let's get another little bit of personal trivia out of the way. I'm a business man. I'm one of those "hard working slobs" they slop their affections on who works his arse off, makes pretty damned good money and would like to make more. Hey, I'm stuck in the system, if I've gotta play by ITS rules, I'm gunna play to be comfortable. I sell things to people for more than I paid for them, and I do a damned good job of matching people to the the things they want. Now, I'm just getting started in this line of work, so I can only make between $250 and $500 dollars a day. Other folks, with better connections in my line of work make about $1500 dollars a day. Perhaps I'll get there someday. Who knows. I'm thankful for what I got. It's a fun game to play anyway. Before I did what I do now, I was a software engineer for Caterpillar and other companies. I made about $40 bucks an hour sitting on my butt telling a computer chip how to feed diesel to a piston. (Time to feed more beer to my pistons...hold on.) (Ahhhh..ok where was I?) Ok, so I owned a house (wiped out by a flood in 2000) and cars and had oodles and oodles of free spending cash. And I worked my ARSE off to get that stuff. I started out on an assembly line making $6.25 an hour. I worked my way up through the ranks over the course of 12 years and became the first non-degreed software engineer in the history of my Business Unit at Caterpillar. Screw anyone that wants to take what's mine by force or through guilt. They can kiss my (quite enebriated) tookus. If I'M a have-not... Well by their standards I'm a have...but see they didn't know that. They haven't stopped looking at their own pile of cash long enough to realize that I'm not talking about piles of cash and I don't fit in their narrow drawer or the perceptions they've attached to anyone that speaks of US working together as a people and getting beyond our piles of cash. They think cash and land and stuff is where its at...and you know what? For as long as this system has got it's noose wrapped around our minds (and as long as it's cranking out all the beer) they have a point. But it won't always. I believe that. And I believe UNITY starts with you and me...and them! (And my beer? Probably not.) Which brings me to the second things these delusional gentlemen(people?) were talking about..this thread: ATTENTION KNOWFLAKES See, they were trying to tie their two misconceptions together. They tried to call it a witch hunt. Can you believe it? I personally LIKE witches for the most part. They're interesting characters with a lot of insight most of the time. And as long as their brews don't end up in MY brew, we have no problems. These guys hit a wall called their own preconceptions then they WENT with it. The entire purpose of that post, was to bring Knowflakes together so that they could see how easy it was for miscommunication to turn into MEAN, COMBATIVE, EGO-RIDDEN drivel that does nothing but hurt people's feelings and drive people away from Lindaland. And ya know what? They engaged it, they fed it, and they DIDN'T EVEN SEE IT! (Damn beer is threatening to get warm if I don't give it some more attention...hold on.) No, they called it a witch hunt. They said it was because I was a have not. Perhaps they're right, perhaps they're wrong, but just look at the very last post on that thread and tell me how wrong I am. There are some of us who have felt this. It's spread throughout the 16(?) forums on Lindaland. I chose to take the hit and bring it out into the open where we could all see it. I had to! Because if I'm a have-not, it's that I don't have what I DID have once. A Lindaland where no matter HOW our opinions differ, we can still share them without disrespecting each other in the name of our all-holy EGOS. Well my ego, (and my beer) demanded that this stupid injustice be remedied. There ya have it, and my beer is gone now. I only hope that those "haves" on this site who have-not the courtesy to treat people who believe differently than they do with the respect that a special place like this demands will stop acting like they have a right to belittle and demean others in the name of their opinions. Oh, and since you guys aren't big on subtlety, YES, the words in this post that seem demeaning are a MIRROR. Look deep and drink long. My love to you all, and hope for a better tomorrow, daf

I would suggest an ice cold Hefeweizen - preferably Widmer - with a nice slice of Lemon. IF you cannot find Widmer- Pyramid is refreshing as well. Stay far away from some of the mass brewery Hefe's...not so good and a headache soon follows. Good luck Also---that beer goes extremely well with Brats and Sauerkraut (Mmmmmmm, one of my favorites) IP: Logged |

Actually...gimme a Koenig Pilsener or a 1664 D Kronenberg (French)...Mmmmm (Ya know, Mexico has a damned good beer with the Negra Modelo.)
I take it the point was well taken. Thank you piduau. There are very delicate people here...you have a powerful intellectual presence that can hurt them without your knowing it. It's really your responsibility to use it wisely, since you are in control of that power. Oh, and thanks for the beer recommendations. Love, daf IP: Logged |

Had a Corona earlier, at a late dinner...big-@ss slice of lime, had to realllly squeeze it in there. Then it was yummy and went down smooooothly. Not the light Corona either. Bleck.I love Bass, too, nice English dark beer. It's so trendy here, but my friend in Ireland says only old f@rts drink it there. So, now I'm drinking a mediocre dry red wine that I picked up at a beautiful little winery in the country, that I discovered one day whilst taking a spin. Beautiful estate...but damn if Pennsylvania wine isn't bitter. Not the best state for grapes I suppose. Or maybe they're just misunderstood, too. IP: Logged |

Hmmm, Daf you have something there. Negro Modelo is very tasty. I had it in Nogales Mexico last weekend. I haven't tried the Koenig or the French beer though. I love unflitered wheat beer. Black and Tans are also very yummy. Trillian, if you can find it, there is a great Merlot called Alterra. Very tasty, not bitter - I also like Lindeman's Merlot (Australia). IP: Logged |

Dear Daf,I'm sorry that you felt so driven to defend yourself in that manner. Your business, financial affairs, and what you have or haven't got, are entirely your affair. I have to say I was not aware of any such talk. It is shameful and totally unsavoury. I hope the beer was good! Gia

I had no idea that any of that was going on. Sorry mate, I think I read that post and decided not to post back, just take it for what it was, then it got kinda icky, so I'm glad that I stayed away from it. All I can say is that I completely agree with the post from Raindrops about Wonder Woman, couldn't have said it better myself. Big hug and love to you, darling, and if you get the chance to try some Belgian beer, perhaps a nice Hoegarrden on a hot sunny day in the garden, or some Chimay Blue (packs a punch, gotta say) to warm your belly when the nights are a bit cooler, please try it. Highest reccomendations from Ghani : ) IP: Logged |

Paras: 1) My response to you in "Attention" was based on your history of posts in which you throw out barbs, make people feel insignificant for their way of life, then you duck out of the conversation when it gets too hot. I have watched as you have put down many here due to their lifestyle. From my point, I see a major hypocrite - someone that stands on his soapbox, yells out assumption and pseudo-theorectical bullpucky, then runs when we all come out swinging. 2) I am very protective over my friends and people I consider to be goodhearted, honest people. I watched as you systematically put them down for their imbibing of alcoholic beverages, sexual lifestyles choices and their inability to buy into your theories of this "altruistic" life. Some of those people felt compelled to almost feel bad for their choices when it was YOU than should feel bad for not understanding other's life choices. 3) No..I did not post while consumming mass quantities of alcohol. While I do enjoy a beer / brat at times or a nice red wine with a steak. I have a control thing about my own life. I HATE being out of control - call it it the Pluto conjunct Ascendant thing or call it the "I am way past those stupid college days of getting drunk and disorderly" Come to think of it I wasn't even the typical college kid because I didn't want to lose control and possibly ruin my life, thus preventing me from earning my degrees. 4) If you want to shout out to me, I suggest you do it in a format that will draw my attention, just as I did for you. Instead, you bury your comments in a format that is not only disorganized, but so full of rants and ravings that I had to pick around to find out the crux of your argument. 5) Regardless of how you may FEEL about me, it does not change my intellectual capacity. I am not a genius, there are tons of people here way more intelligent that I am, but I will not go so far as to discredit myself as you did by taking issue with what Daf said. He may have been talking tongue in cheek - who knows? 6) Sex: I have NEVER treated sex casually here. To insinuate that I do is just absurd. Read my posts - it has been a long standing "thing" about my Saturn in the 8th house and my inability to treat sex lightly. Now, I DO enjoy sex. I am in love with a wonderful Taurus that I plan on marrying. I love having sex with him and I am not ashamed of sex. It is normal, it is physical and it is something that most of us Fire signs thoroughly enjoy. BUT, I do not take it lightly. I did NOT fool around for many years because of the ramifications of what sexual contacts could bring about, not to mention I believe that when people come together they full merge (Mars in Pisces). So, take that for what it is. Your forgiveness is not necessary nor is it desired. I have no love lost for you. Unlike you, I can argue a point with someone on one thread and still speak in a civilized manner in another thread. Just because I do not condone ones beliefs doesn't mean I wouldn't offer my help and support in another arena...Unless they attack people I care about..then my Aries moon will come out fighting. Maybe you should spend more time worrying about the poison you spew forth rather than telling us how to live. Your picture of you flipping the bird can be seen by anyone that reads that thread- even kids. If you are so worried about people, while post such an aggressive picture? That tells volumes! Hi Pidua and Jwhop,You know, I just read that chat thing about haves and have nots. Really, the thing that strikes me most in my mind is that I was incredulous to find out that Pidua is a woman!!! Pidua, let me give you some advice woman to woman. You don't have to pretend you are man to make it in a man's world. Makes you all butchy and is bad for your complexion. And Jwhop, really, gossipping like a woman with a woman?!? Time to beat some drums in a forest guy and get back into your inner male. Oh gender benders! Like bent fenders! Girlie men and butchy girls, My poor head's goin' whirls! Sh! IP: Logged |

Pid a butch? Hardly, I don't see it hon. She's a cool chick, who knows how to be a woman with a little 'tude. I don't always agree with her, but she and I have a lot of similarities in her charts and I love her loads. You keep doin' what you're doin', girlfriend. Subservient women are boring.paras, why this battle with Daf? To me, the issue seems irrelevant. As someone posted, stupid is as stupid does. So he contradicts himself...big deal. We all do...ain't no big thang. It comes off as just a battle of the Egos. Daf and I have gulfs between us, we will likely never be buds, but please remember that you can never make yourself look larger, by trying to make someone else look smaller. IP: Logged |

Dear Paras,Of course I see the contradiction. Just because I didn't feel the need to comment on it, does not for one moment suggest I was blind to it. Nor for that matter, that anybody else was. It is shameful and unsavory talk and I repeat, I was geniunely sorry he was driven to respond in that manner. However he does have every right to post whatever he likes. Hoping that he extends that very courteous behaviourism to all others. Daf, If ego's are not involved, then why does it bother you so much what people think and say? Let it go. It's not like it's drastically altering your life in any big way. Enjoy your beer without letting it spoil. People talk all the time. Not everyone will love you, or embrace your views. So what? I really don't believe that people give a fig how much money you earn in a day. Honestly! I think LL is still a place of light. We knowflakes are like moths attracted to the glow. How terribly boring to converse with only like minded people. Why bother? I personally think the grass is always greener on the other side. Oh, and if you happen to disagree with that statement, I don't really give a fig either! Gia
