All right.. I just had to share this.I have a very fat, long haired Calico - Pheobe. She resembles a watermelon with a tiny apple for a head. Yes, I know..why did I let her get fat? I can't help it - she loves food and my orange boy - Fletcher - well he is thin..anyway.. I am going to be dropping them off with my ex for two weeks and I wanted to try out my new Oster animal clippers (used once and almost thrown away by my former employer). Pheobe has a tendancy to get a mat here and there and I hate to use scissors because I could accidently cut her. I turned on the clippers and instead of running she was like "Hmm...interesting, what is this? Maybe I can EAT it" LOL..no she didn't try to eat it but she wanted to rub against it. Weirdo... Then I started near her rear - to trim up her ultra long hair as well as near her tail. She is a "butt" kitty. Meaning once you touch her near her tail..she raises her butt right up..it's so embarrassing when I have company..they have called her "prison kitty" "Kitty that drops the soap" etc... I am clipping away and she does her "Butts up" Thing...Buzzzzz....ooops..Now kitty has a major bald line down her back. LOL...she kind of looks like Franken kitty - but she is much happier with her hair cut.
See, I wanted to trim her up because AZ is hot and she needs to be comfortable (I used to work with a vet that shaved her cats bald with the exception of their heads, feet and tails) LOL.. Both cats didn't mind the sound of the clippers - so that is good, but Fletcher still hates the nail clippers.

Thanks for sharin'! That was a great story! I have a kitty that gets matted too... I usually just snip them off with the scissors... never thought about trying clippers. IP: Logged |

LOL...I do that too LibraSparkle, but it makes me so paranoid. Once time, when I was a tech, I thought I would snip one out of this really fat persian cat...Well, I snipped too much and got a chunk of skin. The cat was so nonchalent about it..just sat their.Well, we had to stich her back up, thankfully the owner was cool about it, but I'll never forget that LOL...poor kitty. Pheobe is doing okay. She likes her new haircut. I think I will clip more before we leave. IP: Logged |

I've never laughed so hard, reading your story...It was the visual...my cat does the same thing when you touch anywhere near her rear end.IP: Logged |
