If you had the chance to ask eight people to dinner. All historical characters and not family or friends please. Who would you most like to sit around the dinner table with?I'd choose Jesus Tesla Mary Magdalene Einstein Apasia Nostradmus Cleopatra Socrates For music, but not invited to dinner because only eight are allowed. I'd have Debussy's playing his Reverie and Clair De Lune, and Beethoven playing Moonlight Sonata. I'd stage the dinner party in Italy. In the ruins of the beautiful Villa Cimbrone in Ravello. Where once upon a time I spent many a happy day. What a wonderful time we'd have. Gia

Hello Philly!First of all, am I mistaken or is Seabiscuit a horse? What are you going to do, neigh across the table at one another? *laughing so hard she falls off chair* It would be interesting conversation if you could speak horse. *laughing so much she practically falls of chair again* Must stop repeating myself. As for the Three Stooges, are they all joined at the hip and can they fit into one chair? Oh yes, King Tut in all his glory would be quite magnificient. I can just imagine him sitting at your table in elaborate official costume wearing tons of gold. I think dearest Vincent Van Gogh would also be a good choice. Only finger food for him though, not sure I'd trust him with a knife, no telling what he may fancy chopping off next! I always thought that he was totally misunderstood poor chap. Carl Jung. Interesting conversation I suppose. Although I'd be scared to open my mouth in case he had me committed. I think it would be a great dinner party Philly. If I was dead I'd crash it. Gia

Jesus Christ Justinian the 1st Nestoriuous Suleyman the Great Billy Cosby (I would need someone help keep the conversation light and yet could hold his own…and help me hold mine…well Christ would be there but you know what I mean…) Queen Elizabeth the First Artemisia Gentileschi Madame CuriMy Dad and Mom would be cooking (they’ve been apart since I was 3 but I would need help with this crowd…I think for this dinner party they would put aside there differences and help me from the kitchen…) Amber

Well let's see...I think I'd want to have a little fun. (Though not inviting relatives is tough. I haven't seen my folks since I was very young so I'd love to have dinner with them).OK...reserving the right to change my mind at any time...Let's see if I can't come up with a fun little mix. Also, since you did not restrict the living vs. the dead, I will assume the living are welcome. By the way Gia, Mr. Ed was a horse, too. A talking horse, on a 60's sit-com. So if Philly can have two horses, I can have live people. John Lennon Bono Oscar Wilde Linda Goodman Stephen King Tesla Jesus Robin Williams But hey, this is just one dinner party...I'd have lots. Music? John and Bono could bring guitars. I hear Stephen King belongs to a band, too. And Jesus can play anything he wants to. I'll bet he's a drummer.

I think I said historical characters, but even so a very interesting mix Trillian. They all happen to be people I love too.Could you just imagine the conversation between Robin Williams and Oscar Wilde. Jesus and Stephen King, Linda and Bono, John Lennon and Tesla? I'd love to be a fly on the wall listening to all that. Jesus and Ghandi would be interesting and so would Tarantino and Suleyman the Great. I can see another epic film happening there. Should I know a Kevin Smith Libra? I had no idea Stephen King played in a band. I could imagine him singing the monster mash song. * sigh* What grand dinner gatherings we could have. Gia IP: Logged |

Somehow I looked over the word Historical That's okay.. someday Quniton and Kevin will be historical Kevin Smith is a screen wirter/director. He did Mall Rats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks. (Writing and directing, he's written screen plays for other films as well.) He is Silent Bob. He chose the roll Silent Bob because he decided he coudln't act and would be best suited for a part with little to no dialog Am I missing anything?... I think that's all of 'em. Well, and I guess Usher isn't an historical figure... but he's my dreamboat IP: Logged |

Hi all, Yes, Mr. Ed was a talking horse, but he's only there to translate for Seabiscuit. Seabiscuit's life story is very humbling. They are both dead. I think I'd like to change The three stooges into just Moe. Someone has to mess with calligula. Van Gogh could paint the "Dead Supper" I'm assuming all the folks I invited could satisfy all my questions about life. Or better yet, I think I'd just sit there and watch and listen. There's a great varity of language at this party. The horses are also a torment for Calligula! Ripley would be there to argue the truths of all the guests.IP: Logged |

Sure you could come! You have enough history behind you to be dead... See Gia, these are all energies, horses included! So literal. I did delete two of the stooges! You should see the cast I'd invite if they were all living figures! Or future figures! By the way, did you ever read about who Dexter is? It's in the carton post. I thought you'd get a kick out of that! "Mandor"IP: Logged |

Hmmmm.... can I ask why Peter?Michaelangelo Buonarrotti bakes a great biscotti! No seriously, it's a great choice, perhaps that little bit of eye candy Michaelangelo's David could be the waiter? You could ask for a little take out dessert? Did you know that D.H. Lawrence used to run around in the noddy and shock all the little old ladies? It's true. I'm loving this dinner party already. Philly, I really don't know who Dexter is. I'll look at it right now. I really don't watch cartoons. I remember all the old ones like Mr. Magoo and Tweety. Gia The 'original' Aphrodite you mean. LOL Why Peter? Because many of you would say Jesus(I would love to meet him)but I would rather meet Peter to get his view on Jesus and why he denied knowing him, even though he knew Jesus. Naughty boy DH LAWRENCE! Yes Aphrodite the Greek Goddess-you can come along too, so when one disappears, the other can reappear(talking about you Gia and Aphrodite!) IP: Logged |

YangIf they could all converse - I'd ask the memories of my past incarnations to come and sit with me. This way I'll have a deeper knowledge of me now, which I'll thoroughly embrace - anything's possible! On a different night, I'd choose; The original ruler(s) of Atlantis Isis & Osiris Cleopatra Martin Luther King Alfred Hitchcock William Shakespeare Albert Einstein Anne Frank Christopher Columbus Nostradamus Someone I'd invite over for a singular deep, learning conversation would have to be Myrddin - Merlin the Enchanter, Wizard & Prophet. ------------------ "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." Wow! Just imagining it is putting me in a state of near euphoria!Merlin (could help with the clean up!) Edgar Cayce Linda Goodman (my guest of honor ) Jesus (I'd want to sit between him and Linda) Mohammad Dali Lama (they could help explain why each major religion is perfectly valid and necessary) Allister Crowley (may do him some good) Kurt Cobaine (ditto) Mother Theresa (and she'd help, I'm sure) Elizabeth the 1st (a rockin chick) Oops...that's 10. Dern. We'll have to set more places. The conversation would be so compelling, nobody would find the time to eat! IP: Logged |

Gia, (whine) everyone's cheating more than I was! I want to invite more animals! I think my party should join Yang's party. Think about all the philosophical talk about the mess thats going to happen. Paint, poop, prolepsis, and patronizing! Ummmm, fun, fun, fun. And just for the heck of it, the drinks would not have any alchohol content, but everyone would think they were really getting drunk.IP: Logged |

Well since every single one of you has cheated I'd like to invite more than 8 too.You and all your other guests are cordially invited to dinner at Gia's place. Oh my goodness, couldn't you just imagine the din of it all? I think poor Tesla would have to wear ear plugs. Merlin could ride Seabiscuit, Shakespear could write a sonnet for us, Michealangelo could paint us, Jesus of course would say grace, dearest Vincent would carve - of course he happens to be good at carving, and........
