Well, I got in another fight with my stepdad the other day. Basically, he said I was stupid, and that women are stupid and shouldn't have the right to vote. He always does this. He throws out questions like I'm a damn politician, but I'm not. I'm a kid. He tells me I'm stupid, and naive, and makes me feel worthless. He thinks it makes him sound so smart to debate some stupid 17 year old.Just because I read Chomsky, and don't eat meat, and am a liberal - he thinks I'm trying to be cool. But who the hell am I trying to impress with all of this? Can't I believe the things I want to believe because I honestly think they are right? Should I give him some drawn out explaination of why I believe everything I do? What really makes me mad, though, is when he talks about my mother. My mom's mentally ill. And I get so angry when he tells me she's crazy, because she wants to be that way. He'll never know the things she's had to go through because of her illness. Her son (my half brother) was taken away from her because of her illness, and she's spent a great deal of her adult life being hospitalized. I don't see why anyone would "choose" this lifestyle. But of course, yeah, maybe he's right people "choose" to be black, or white, or male, or female, crippled, or gay(I'm sure they love the discrimination.) Anyway, I'm finally moving next week. I turn 18 on Monday or something like that, so I have to find a way to cover the bus fare and have back-up money. I've never really done anything this big on my own, so I'm hoping I don't screw it up too much! I'm living with some friends - a Libra and a Taurus. That should be interesting to say the least! I'm selling my computer so I won't be able to talk with any of you for a few days probably, depends on if I can sell the stupid thing. Just wanted to say "bye" for a bit, in case I don't get the chance! With love,

Best of luck to you Stacey. Everything will be great - definitely better than what you are putting up with now. The best is yet to come!!! It really is.....We'll miss you. Hopefully you can check in from time to time. ....a Taurus and a Libra for roomates? Rock 'n Roll!!!  Good times!! Have fun & take care of yourself.

You are smart! Moving away from an unhealthy situation at such a young age shows you who the intelligent one is. I know how it feels to be called stupid! Don't let his insecurities follow you around for the rest of your life!
