Hiya! Yup.. still mid-quit. I am done with those horrid smelling life suckers and am looking forward to my first post-smoke kiss, with the freshest breath (without listerine help) I will have shared in years. I'm sure my hubby will be happy, as he has never smoked. I was always considerate with my use of breathmints, etc.. but really.. smoke is hard to mask, so I know I will be elated to share a big juicy one. I have a cold too, so no kisses for me. There have been really hard moments.. really hard. I have been compulsively, addictively, habitually doing certain things for years, so to break myself of the silly things is hard. Walking to work, walking the kids to school, I light up immediately ( I don't smoke indoors, unless it is in my garage) So doing these things smoke-less makes me a little jittery but I have held up. I don't know what to do with myself, when I have 'completed' something.. you know.. when I finish this last post, oh, I will go on in the garage and smoke... oh yeah, I don't do that anymore.... little things like that. planning my day.. oh, after this, I will go smoke. oh yeah.. I don't smoke. It is strange to not do something that had such power over me. But this time I am doing it, and I am committed. I am actually really proud of myself. Since Tuesday at noon. The patch really helps. I will most certainly gain a few pounds though. It is worth it, and I will be so busy, I just might not anyway. I find I have alot more time than I used to.. and already, I have saved money. Too many reasons to look back now. IP: Logged |

PIXIE & PHILBIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!(((((((((BIG HUGS))))))))) Congatulations to the both of you!!!! I didn't realize you guys were doing this until earlier today, where have I been? geez.....Weight gain? Nah, I didn't, not everyone does....and Pix, you don't seem to have the body type or style that will gain....does that make sense? hope so.
Now, I hope I don't offend anyone here, but...smoking more often than not, ages people. You're in your twenties, by the time you reach my age, forties, man-o-man, you really can see the difference in some people and I know you are always commenting on your skin and appearance.......so, this should be a major consideration for ya! Boy, all this inspiration, maybe I should go on a diet! It too, takes the right mind-set, haha.

Hi Pixie, My dad (an Aries) who I recently reunited with after a 5-year gap, decided to quit smoking last year; just said, one day, that enough was enough and quit. He must have tried about 50 times over the years. His first smoke was when he was 6. He is now 64. Perhaps the woman he currently lives with relaxes him more, so maybe he doesn't feel the need to light up. At any rate, he's succeeded in giving up. He is really pleased with himself. Good for him, I say. Keep up the good work!IP: Logged |

It just goes to show that you have to be ready. Good for him!! That's what I need today, inspirational stories. I am feeling stressed.. my first reaction? Guess... But I am still not smoking, I am resisting. It sis getting easier to resist, as I have proven I can. I am really proud of me, I can't believe I am doing it. But I am certainly not ready to breathe a sigh of relief ( although I am breathing better) I am not over the hump yet. Good luck to Philly and Hubby-bird!!!IP: Logged |

*grazing on some mint girlguide cookies... While my ego thanks you, Noreenz, for saying I probably won't gain, my hips say... "We'll see about that!!!"I am fine today with not smoking.. I don't know where my head was yesterday.. my body was vibrating with NEED.. of every kind.. I was insatiable in my wants/needs, and unfortunately, there was a cigarette around to make me want it. And yes, my hand/mouth co-ordination is still being practised. Alot. I am okay today. Just fine, actually. *shakes head at herself* And Baked Lay's are fabulous! I never knew I enjoyed salt.. crunch is nice! (Haven't gained yet, but I am surely pushing my luck) Keep at it Philly!!!!!! Just for fun, the next time I am drunk, I will post too, okay? I will be your 'day-after- regret' buddy! IP: Logged |

Pix, Maybe Jamaican Dogwood, or Valarian might be helpful. If those are too strong, Black Cohosh (unless you intend on becoming pregnant) is good, and more mild... maybe a little stronger than Chamomile. Increasing your daily intake of Calcium can also have a calming effect. Are you drinking loads of water? Gotta get that icky Nicotine out of your body. IP: Logged |

{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}} Thank you. It is raining and dreary. It is Friday. The time I usually go out and have fun, but I am not looking forward to being confidently smoke free, I am looking forward to being in an environment where can bum smokes. This is the beginning of the end. I have such an addictive personality. If I am ever in a situation where I am offered something reaaaaaallllyy bad.. Just say NO!!!!!! I am having such a battle. NOW!! Last week? It sucked, but I was resolved. I am such a scattered person. IP: Logged |

If you cannot figure out what the cigarrettes are a substitute for in your life, try hypnotherapy to quit. If not, try Ibogain.I usually know better than to tell a smoker how to quit ... so ... see ya! IP: Logged |
