What would it take to get you to vote again? I'm trying to understand what it is that's stopping you from voting. Is it the last election? The Electoral College? Voter Fraud? Loss of faith? Please, be honest. United States voter turnout is among the lowest in the world (respectively). http://www.fairvote.org/turnout/intturnout.htm (not to mention that right wing turn out is much higher than that of the left) What would have to change for you guys to cast your vote? *I am not interested in starting a debate here. I simply want to hear from the people who have chosen not to vote.* ... ready to listen **OOH** And.. this doesn't have to apply solely to those from the US. If you don't vote, please chime in
There are a couple of people I expect to hear from. You know who you are. ok, now ... ready to listen objectively IP: Logged |

Yeah, Juni.. I know. I purposely chose not to post this there. The problem is...Many of the people I want to hear from no longer visit GU because they are harassed. I'm hoping this can be a safe place to express themselves freely... without worry of backlash. I have seen many attempt to get their point across only to be shushed by the frustration of their harassment. My goal is simply to understand. I don't believe this thread *could* take place in GU IP: Logged |

LibraSparkle, I totally agree with you.To answer your question, I don't know if I can get an ''absintee ballot'' from overseas, and I won't be in the states on the 2nd, so I can't vote. But I would like to vote for Nader. If I knew a way to vote, I would. I guess I'm being lazy in not finding out about that, so I'm a bad girl... But someday I'll have dual citizenship, and I can vote in the UK and in the US then. And who knows, I may even be a politician someday (taking history, politics and sociology at the moment)... so VOTE FOR ME IN 2023!! LOL. Ghani p.s. It's good that you put this here, IMPO. ghanima81 Well, I know for sure there are overseas absentee ballots but I'm not sure who's eligible. I do know members of the military use them when they're stationed overseas. I think you could look it up online if you wanted to. However, I think time's running short if not almost up to request ... my mom said that, at least for FL, the deadline to receive them (as in, the person voting) is October 11.

LS,Yes, I would be voting if I could. And I would be voting for Nader. for having a third party that actually gets some media attention. Although, it will suck when the mudslinging is going in one direction (if you get my drift). Eleanore, Yeah, I'm only here on a visitor visa at the moment. I'm waiting for some stuff to get sorted then I'll be on a student visa. (God-willing). But I don't think I'm elidgible. Thanks for pointing that out though, I wasn't sure how that worked. I'm voting for everything but president. I just can't decide. I've never declared a party, and agree with both real candidates on some issues, and disagree on others. Plus, some important issues haven't even been spoken of.IP: Logged |
