Oh-kayyy... this is very, very disturbing.Occasionally I'll load the Lindaland "chat room" -- you know, the stooopid Chatzy one -- into my browser, just to see if any of you are around who I've never had a conversation with but always wanted to. (And those of you whom I have found that way, you know I always try to badger you into using mIRC, because Chatzy blows, big-time.) Aaannnyway... I just stopped by the "Linda land chat room", and I saw: paras from x.x.x.144 left the chat 104 minutes ago
paras from x.x.x.144 cleared the chat 104 minutes ago How iiiiiinteresting. Especially considering that I was sleeping 104 minutes ago. So, to let you all know, I rarely use Chatzy at all, and someone is "impersonating" me there. On IRC (real chat), there are ways of knowing if someone is really who they say they are. With Chatzy... you just never know. So, here's the deal. If I decide to check up on Chatzy, I'll leave a post here. I don't do it often. If there's no matching post here, it's not me, it's my psycho doppelganger. :P I can only imagine why anyone would do this, let alone what they are saying "in my name"... *Sigh* Why me??? That's troubling.  Some people are rather odd, arent' they?paras, I tried to go into mIRC on the weekend, but it wanted me to pay $20 to register, as my trial period of 30 days was up. I'd really rather not pay for a chat program since there are so many free ones out there, so is there anyway I can get another free trial period? I never did get to try it out after I downloaded it. *did you ever get that email I sent you? The one that was in response to my psychological test results? I still haven't received the test email I sent from that address to my work email*  IP: Logged |

Hmmm... that is interesting, Paras. Hopefully, it was just someone being silly, and meant no harm. I think anyone who knows you very well at all knows how you feel about Chatzy, so anyone posting as you in Chatzy would probably be met with scepticism anyhow  IP: Logged |

Ya know, I really hope someone confesses to having done this and that they were just being silly with someone.........(similar to that one time someone posted the conversation and showing how everyone chatting was the same person, really funny....) if not, tis a little too weird for me.........shame on them. Out of curiousity, is there a way you can somehow see what the conversation was? That way you'd at least know if someone was being silly or psycho.IP: Logged |

wow, forgive my ignorance, (I've only been in there like twice, for very short periods of time.........and it is the only chat room I've ever visited) So......am I to assume that normally you could view the conversations held that day, week? Hmm, how interesting that they would erase the conversation...perhaps there wasn't one, maybe just popped in and popped because no one was in there, (I did that once)..........Ok, Noreen, hang up your detective hat, you don't know enough about chat rooms to discuss this matter, lol. Well, Noreenz, on Chatzy, you can view the entire conversation up to the last time someone cleared it. What's even creepier is, you don't even actually have to "go into" the "room" to see it! You can watch all day long and no one would ever know. On IRC, the form of chat I use, you don't see what's going on in a "chat room" -- or even know who's in there -- until you actually "go in" to it. And when you do "go in", it's just like walking into a real room: you have no idea what was said before you arrived. Chatzy sucks! IP: Logged |
