Although I suppose it's more accurate to say East meets East, because Christianity at its roots is an Eastern philosophy. But in this beautiful passage is the Yin and Yang....

Ecclesiastes:

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Tink, while some of us may have appeared to be harsh, we had our reasons, right or wrong. No party had exclusivity with right... But all things are necessary, by their very ISness, their very being. Purpose may unfold as time goes by.

You are loved and admired.

Trillian, very thoughtful! If only people understand a bit of the meaning of that verse, our world would have been a Paradise.

It is not meant to happen, right?

Oh Moonchild...perhaps I am presumptuous, or arrogant, but I do think I have some understanding of that verse, and that it is happening right now.

We wrestle with things, be they war or love, as they unfold. I think our lack of understanding lies within ourselves, and not with the way the Universe unfolds herself.

But I am but an egg.

Although not overly religious (who likes organized religion anyway ) I have always found Ecclesiastes' thoughts fascinating.
Here is something that has turned into my life story:
quote:

1:18
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

Hi Trillian, I've been thinking about you these days. How are you?

PS I just realized I'm so far away from the topic here. But don't you love the freedom to make choices and sometimes be totally out of line

Love to the Lovelies here.

Yin, I am not religious either...but that bit of Ecclesiastes doesn't really seem to fit with the rest of the Bible, does it? When it pops into my mind, it reminds me that all manner of things are well, whether we see it or not.

I've been mostly well Yin, thank you for asking. Going through a rough stretch and have been a bit blue, but out of the blue sometimes comes that dreaded wisdom of your quote above. How are you sweetie? Still on an extended honeymoon? I hope you and he are still ecstatically happy.

One of my favorite passages from the Bible. I remember my mom singing that old song based on it when I was young.

Thank you for the reminder, lovely trill

I know that you know that your rough stretch isn't forever and you will make it through wiser for the wear. "this too shall pass" But if you happen to need a friendly push one weary morning, give me a holler and I will return the favor.

Thank you all, for all the well-wishes...they are greatly appreciated by a weary, impetuous fire-girl.
