Hi everyone As most of you may know, I adore all things magical ~ including crystals. Recently, I aquired a beautiful teardrop cut, rose quartz. Upon buying and washing it, I wore it to bed around my neck on the cord it came with. When I woke up in the morning ~ the unclasped cord was on the floor near my bedroom door, and the crystal nowhere to be seen!? I searched, really I did. It's not a small quartz, either (3cm x 2cm), so not difficult to spot. I looked everywhere, and eventually took everything out of my room -apart from the furniture, and stripped my bed. Still nothing after two days. On the third day he rose again.. (OK sorry no).. I was placing a long cotton cardigan in the downstairs cupboard we never go in, and when I opened it, the rose quartz rolled out!!? I had been told by a gifted friend, that I shouldn't wear crystals to go to sleep - I should place them down before going to bed. OK - so I bought another crystal recently - this time the blue stone, sodalite. I have glass tealight candle holders in my room. I lit one candle and put it on top of my stereo on the main deck. I placed the rose quartz in one glass container, and the sodalite in another and put them on either side of the candle on each speaker (away from my bed). I woke up this morning to find the sodalite had somehow jumped from the glass container on my left speaker to place itself perfectly behind the tealight on the middle deck (and there's a big gap between that and the speaker).. What gives??? My father got me an opal ring for christmas - hopefully I'll have no extra activity from that!! Seriously - anyone got a clue? I did have a disturbed night's sleep again. Any insight would be appreciated IP: Logged |

I love crystals. I dont think its true though that you cant wear them to bed. My favorite stone is rose quartz and I have a rose quartz necklace that I never take off. Never had a problem sleeping with it. There are some stones that people put under their pillow to either help with sleep or dreams. Amethyst is supposed to help with good sleep. I have a stone called Labradorite, I have put that under my pillow and have had some mad wicked dreams...lolAs far as the sodalite. that stone can help you with your third eye. Try laying down with it on your third eye chakra IP: Logged |

Thank you miss_apples, I'll try that ~ I'd like to get an Amethyst next actually. Labradorite ~ I've not heard of it before, it looks, pretty, like an opal. Yeah I sure had some crazy dreams last night, without the help of that! haha.. As to why my crystals feel the need to explore the atmosphere in my house though beats me! Someone spookily told me that perhaps 'someone' wanted to borrow it?! I wonder why a spirit would though? IP: Logged |

Hi Sheaa Talk about synchronism! I was reading about gem stones yesterday. Mostly pondering about energy fields and the Chakras. There is a lot of information posted in the Pilgrim's Progress Forum . . . Check it out. It sounds like you've got faeries in your house playing with the personal belongings. As a simple kitchen witch, I would recommend clearing out your home by lighting a bundle of dried white sage and wormwood, and walking with it through each and every room. Make sure all the windows are open to ventilate. Immediately afterwards, you'll sense a clarity in the air and should be able to get a good nights sleep. Lavender, a wonderful plant used in magick, is great to have around the home to aid in centering and relaxation too. I have a small bag of dried lavender kept in a wooden box on my night stand. Sometimes the flower is sprinkled around candles for meditation at night. The stones you currently have eminate soft feminine energy. You may want to impart your own energy and meditations into them, especially if they are gifts. Stones given as gifts are always special. Place them in your hand and allow naturally running water flow over them until you feel ready to take them out. Let them dry in natural sunlight. They are then all YOURS and will adjust to your auric field for whatever balance is needed. Lots of Love Aphrodite IP: Logged |

Hi Sheaa! Ahhh, another crystal lover! Boiled down all the info on those crystals is: Rose Quartz: Heart, love, opens heart chakra. Receptive stone, fidelity.Sodalite: receptive, healing, peace, water, Venus, wisdom, meditation, third eye chakra. Opal: most powerful and magical of all stones. Contains the powers of all colors. Very good luck. Psychic awareness. Astral projection, money and power. Labradorite: is a blue feldspar often used in ornaments and decoration. Gem literature sometimes refers to it as Spectrolite. Gem healers claim it evevates the wearer's consciousness and connection with the energies of the universe. It has affinities with Aquarius, Pisces, Sag. and Cap. Quite a while ago I purchased three pieces of Lapis Lazuli. One I chose for me personally. I always held it when I slept. It has the same powers as sodalite. After about a week, it dissappeared! It couldn't have been anywhere except the bedroom! I still havent found it. I have a five pound rose quartz, but I don't think it's going anywhere! Edgar Cayce used to use Azurite for his sessions with clients. He swore by it. I have placed this over my third eye and experienced a lot of stimulation. But I'm not a prophet. Is your birth stone an opal? If it is, it is said the power of the stone will double. Perhaps the message sent when both gems were together meant open your heart, listen and wisdom will come your way. Or, your heart is open, you are wise and "we" speak to you. Hence, both stones together in the light of spirituality. Hubby and I have books on minerals and crystals and their magical powers. We recently found a quite rare piece of Rutilated Quartz. Among the strongest of healing stones. Strength, detoxification, tissue regeneration, immune system! Balance. Leads you in a positive direction. I also use my purple plate to reenergize crystals. You can freeze some crystals and later place them in your drinking water. When the crysatal expands in the water, it releases its energies. Do some research as to which gems you can and cannot drink. Anything from the quartz family is ok. Oh, another tip, when looking for pure crystals or gems, they will always have five faucets that lead to the tip. (they may not be perfect) Anything else has been cut by man. If you look at the faucets in the light, a pure faucet will be flat looking. If you look at a hand cut faucet, you can see a slight curve created by the cutting tool. Another tip. Sometimes in order to create Citrine, sellers will heat an amethyst to the point that it turns brown in color to make it look like citrine. It won't carry the powers of citrine, neither amethyst. Always ask a dealer if a citrine crystal has been man made. The best thing to try to do is purchase any gem in it's raw and natural form, even if it's not the prettiest thing you ever saw! Good Luck Sheaa! IP: Logged |

My best friend is a Libra and opal is her birthstone. She read somewhere that Opal will only bring good luck to those born in October and will bring bad luck to those who arent. I think thats bollox personally. But she loves opal so much that she got an opal engagement ring instead of a diamond one. Its very pretty. I would love to have a rose quartz or a kunzite engagement ring but im stuck with the plain diamond. Sigh! IP: Logged |

Thank you kindly wise ones! I had an inkling it may be faeries - I love the mischevious lil' mites miss_apples and Aphrodite ~ synchronisation indeed! I'm not sure where to purchase dry white sage, but will try for sure. I'm moving from this house in two weeks, so a clear out is imminent I do own a lavender pouch. I aim to obtain a variety of herbs, spices, ribbons and coloured candles ~ I am a white witch in training and love learning of all this I do need to spend time meditating on my new stones too. You've all succeeded in putting my mind at rest! Philbird! It's good to see you chica I appreciate the breakdown on my stones and meanings. My birth stone isn't Opal unfortunately. I have always loved the stone though, I remember my mother used to wear a few and it is her birthstone (Libra). Funnily, one of my birthstones is Lapis Lazuli! Also sodalite, amoungst a few (Sagittarius). Mary ~ thank you for the gentle insight, I hadn't considered the message portrayed when both gems are together. Also freezing the crystals! Wow learn something new everyday How amazing you know about citrine! Thanks, I never would have known! I hope you find the Lapis Lazuli ~ you never know, when I manage to get one it may be yours! I'll let you know Azurite too ~ I'd love to have an array of beautiful gems one day! You're all amazing ~ thank you, I appreciate it IP: Logged |

A White Witch, wow! Philbird, I purchased three pieces of Lapis Lazuli a few weeks ago. Synchronism again! Two stones I am keeping for myself, one I gave to a friend. For Christmas dinner, I placed three stones around the stove to help make the cooking come out good: clear Quartz, Lapis Lazuli, and Ametrine (mix of Amethyst and Citrine). It worked This thread is so much fun! IP: Logged |

Aphrodite ~ I know, isn't it?? A topic I love!I wasn't aware that you got gem mixes like Ametrine, wow ~ how does that happen? Do only specialists produce them, and how would you know they are genuine? I have so much to learn! I love what you did with the christmas dinner - so what I'd do! I just looked up Lapis Lazuli; THE BRIGHT NIGHT STONE Used as a healer.. it's beauty and power are legendary.. according to some it holds incredible powers.. claims to aid night sight and a favourite for soldiers, spies and lovers! I have Titania's book of White Magic 'Enchanted'. Have you seen it? So many exciting things amoungst the pages IP: Logged |

Hi Sheaa,I dunno The person who sold them to me said they were Ametrine and I looked up what that meant on the web. Enchanted sounds interesting! I see a copy available for sale on alibris.com and has good reader reviews on amazon.com. What do you like about it? I have Llewelyn's Magickal Almanac for 2005. It has short synopses of spells, stories and other stuff. I have it as something nice to read before going to bed. Thanks for writing out what Lapis Lazuli does! Aphrodite IP: Logged |

'Enchanted' is the first book I got on white witchery a few years back. I had Titania's Oracle before that and loved the 'feel' of the book, the outlay, the way it's written (with personality) and the wonderful imagery. The intro reads; INTRODUCING WHITE MAGIC: You are invited to a witch's tea party. My own favourite brew is Earl Grey, but do please join me with a cup of whatever you fancy. Tie a purple ribbon around your cup - you will understand why within a few pages! The book goes on to encompass how to use power (charging an object like a candle), using colour, cleansing rituals, sending mental messages and embracing the sun, moon etc. I love the idea of using coloured candles, herbs, spices, and flowers and other natural things to create your own magick! Hence I want to gather a rack of coloured candles, herbs and flowers etc when I have my own. So much fun and good energies too

I forgot to mention above, there are differences in hardness. Gems such as diamonds, Rubys, sapphire... are Gems because of the base material. They are the hardest stones. Crystals are of medium hardness. Minerals are the softest. Usually you won't find minerals fauceted in their raw form. Both crystals and gems in pure form should have five faucets, not minerals. The best spheres for scrying are: Spheres of Crystal Quartz (crystal) Large ones can cost between $1,000 to $10,000 dollars. (6 inch) You can buy smaller ones that have the same effect for around $20-$40.00. Don't be confused by the plastic ones that look like bowling balls. Flat, square pieces of Obsidian (mineral) are favored in ancient Mexico. They have the same luster as the quartz, but are black. MUCH cheaper! Beryl spheres. (mineral) Sheaa, I have a wonderful book called Crystal, Gem and Metal Magic. By Scott Cunningham. It's worth the purchase! It has a very long explanation on why Crystal Quartz is best and how to actually use it during scrying sessions. It's quite a long segmant, but if you like I could type it up for you. It may take some time. IP: Logged |

Hi Sheaa! I havent read the whole string but the first thing that popped into my mind was something I read awhile back about dissapearing crystals. It seems yours havent gone too far yet, but I read that crystals often dissapear from their owners when their work is done with them. Whether they just dissapear or you give them away - when theyre gone that means theyve got to move on to help someone else in some way. Theyre like little people or something. Alive and on a mission. I tried to look for more info on this - I know I read about it in a book once - didnt find much except this: quote: As crystals, and us, are made up of energy and are interconnected they normally choose you as much as you would choose them! Each crystal will end up with you for a reason, whether you have chosen it yourself or have been given it as a gift. The energy from the crystal will be what you need at the time of choosing, so it may not be one that stays with you forever, (they have a habit of disappearing or being given away when they have done their work with you. They may also break if they have taken on too much negative energy. This is why crystals need cleansing).
http://www.mystic-mouse.co.uk/Wisdom_Texts/Choosing%20Crystals.htm Just something to think about. You gotta put a leash on those things.

Me again... About Birthstones. There are the traditional stones that are preciuos or semi precious that resinate with the MOUNTH you were born. Then there are Gems, Minerals and crystals that relate more to the magical properties of the planet that rules your sign. For instance, Ruby is supposed to be my birthstone. But according to the planet I was born under, Moonstone, (mineral) Beryl (mineral) Sapphire (gem) are supposed to very magical for me. I have a piece of moonstone in natural form that weighs about 1lb! And eventhough ruby is my birthstone, I've always asked for or bought Sapphires. Signs and magical stones: Aries: Bloodstone Garnet Ruby Taurus Emerald Jade Lapis Lazuli Gemini Agate Aventurine Cancer Beryl Moonstone Sapphire Leo Amber Carnelian Diamond Topaz Virgo Agate Aventurine Libra Chrysoprase Lapis Lazuli Turqiuse Scorpio Kunzite Spinel tourmalated Quartz Sag. Amethyst Sugilite (same powers as Lapis Lazuli) Cap. Apache Tear Hemitite Onyx Aquarius Aquamarine Fossils Jet Pisces Amethyst Sugalite This is only one book though! Have any of you been drawn to any of the stones I listed under your birth sign?

Philbird, I'm in awe ~ I wasn't aware you were so into crystals or I would've picked your brain a while back Now Gems, minerals and crystals ~ I had wondered about the differences! How would you classify an opal? I've read it's like a dense gel - however still classified as a mineral. I ask because I'm looking at the new one in my ring and it feels like stone against my teeth, but like plastic on my nails. I can't be sure what is genuine and hope it is! Apparently it holds a large amount of water - up to 9 per cent - does this still mean it holds the amount of energy to stimulate the deep glands within the body as the properties say it does - from such a small amount of stone in a ring? ____________________________________________ Scrying - now that's a new term I've learnt! So basically clear crystal quartz is best, OK. Beryl spheres - I looked it up for an image - so these can be used but it seems to be opaque. Interesting how this can be used. Philbird, the book you have by Scott Cunningham - I will try and purchase it myself since you recommend it. Thank you for your offer to type it up - I will let you know if I can get it first, if I can't that would be very helpful _____________________________________________ Also interesting is your reference to the birthstones. I've always been attracted to quartz including rose quartz, and moonstone mainly. Interesting, since my moon sign is Cancer (moonstone). Thank you Philly - much food for thought - started me well on my way to discovery! _____________________________________________ Hey 26! Appreciation for the info hon I do wash my crystals regularly, and once weekly in salt water - so maybe the fairies did borrow them after all! I believe stones will serve a purpose to an individual for a time too. Wow, from your link - quote: Plants love crystals to help them grow and get rid of pests
I never knew that!! Alive and on a mission sums it up perfectly! Thank you ladies ~ I love this topic so much. I will return tomorrow, although now I must head to bed with the fairies in my room!! I resigned from my job at last today and have a 'meeting' about it tomorrow _____________________________________________ Hey Philly - that Ametrine looks like a beauty! Love to you ladies, bye for now, Sheaa IP: Logged |
