So to the comment that maybe he was molested as a child himself and was not in fact a pedophile...maybe. But maybe he was doing it as some sort of punishment against the "sins on his soul"...i have heard of people who do things like this to themselves to rid themselves of the need for "carnal sins" ..would explain the lower libido thing.

HAHAHA heart crossed was saying the same thing i was....maybe its a whole spiritual thing. Like i said, I have heard of some EXTREME religious zealots who feel that the only way to rid themselves of their sins is to bleed it out..literally. Very scary thought but it happens. Totally out there but just hear me out.
You all have heard of men who rape their wives. It happens everyday because there are men out there that think if she is married to them then it is their right to take from her body what they will. Maybe this was the case and then he realized the error and to cleanse himself of this he did the only thing he could think of. They did say He said it was to lower his libido. Maybe he considered this too much and to keep himself from doing it again, he chopped his penis off. *cringes* poor man.
But I have to agree with Trillian though, regardless of what I have said. No one really knows and all we can do is assume.

It is very interesting that people just cna't see past the fact that what he cut off was his penis. I still maintain that this is part of a long tradition of people, who are not "crazy", but have a strong beleif and self medicate or self surgery in accordance with that beleif. The SEX is just a headline.
