I was just gifted this amazing book on how to detox your entire lifestyle. Its amazing how even a simple thing as a shower can be used as a weapon to cleanse your body, mind and spirit of all the negative energy and toxics gathered over the years. So I would love to share the secrets with any knowflakes who are curious abt this cleansing ritual. No, periodically cleansing your body of toxins, your mind of negative thoughts and your spirit of petty emotions like jealousy, anger, hatred and fear is how you keep your lifestyle detoxified.Funny how some people would head straight to McDonalds after filling their gas tanks with Premium gas!!! Some common foods allowed during detoxification Apples (heavy metal buildup washed out) Asparagus (diuretic - maintains healing digestive bacteria) Broccoli (Like sprouts and cabbage, akey antioxidant that helps the liver expell toxins) Carrot (Antioxidant Beta-carotene, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal) Garlic (Eliminates toxic mircrobes) Ginger (Releaves abdominal bloating, nausea and diarrhea) Lemon (Helps release enzymes) Olive Oil (Prevents cholestrol from turning into harmful free radical) Onions (Rich in antioxidant quercetin protects against free radical damage, also antiviral) Parsley (phytonutrients flush out toxins and rich in anti-oxidants) Brown Rice ??? (Prevents incontinence and stabilize bloo sugar) Salad greens (Anti-oxidant and cleanser) Tomato (Antioxidant lycopene) Watercress (Blood purifier) Yoghurt ??? (probiotics elminate fungal infections) IP: Logged |

Animal products like meat and dairy are harder to digest and therefore tough on your body. Soy is a fabulous replacement - it is rich in protein and calcium and easier to absorbFresh fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients and work like a cleaning service for your body Legumes and beans like Kidney beans, Black eyed beans, chick peas and other whole legumes are rich in protein and keep you feeling fuller for longer IP: Logged |

Course you could BlueTopaz ... it gets easier once you see the difference in your energy levels and enthusiasm. And Ghani, you're right abt those inexpensive books. I have this amazing little mainstreet market in my favorite town which is lined with flowery trees, cafes and small bookstores full of amazing inexpensive books with a wealth of knowledge on various subjects. What do they say about chocolate covered ju-jubes, with a chaser of sweetened coffee and then a cigarette? No? What if you are on your period? I said to someone the other day.. "Hey, if you aren't sweet from within, then you have to supplement. I choose chocolate." IP: Logged |

Unless all those products are certified organic, you will not be able to detox your body. Also, I would advise anyone to seriously limit soy. It is quite toxic to our bodies. We have written extensively about it in the H&H forum. Gia also posted a soy study here in this forum, which outlines its dangers (including its ability to suppress the thyroid). When I have time I'll see if I cand find them. IP: Logged |

Hey marcia, as a person who has NEVER smoked, Im kinda curious ... just what kinda rush does it give to smoke?I am a smell sensitive person and so cannot really go near those things but I sometimes wonder ... there must be something in that kick that so many people end up abusing their bodies inspite of knowing that the nicotine can probably kill you! It's not the nicotine that kills you, it is the nicotine that inclines you to NEED them. I suppose I enjoy smoking, once and while. But mostly, I am supremely addicted. I smoke a Canadian brand. DuMaurier special mild, 100's. I don't think they are cool, I have a sensitive nose as well, and sometimes hte the smell. I don't smell like cigarettes, I don't 'look'/'act' like a smoker... when people see me smoking, they are shocked. I don't have the lifestyle for it, I am healthful other than indulging in chocolate and smoking. I will stop soon. I am a baby for the cravings. It seriously sucks. I hope I never get addicted to another substance again.....IP: Logged |

I totally get it abt the cravings pix ... being Indian, I love rich food and since I love to cook, I end up eating a lot less healthy than I would like to.But I am slowly trying to turn my life around ... you know get a good job and have a richer self-fullfiling life. For that, I will need to lose weight (abt 30 lbs) and raise my energy levels. The best way to do that - lots of water, exercise and totally detoxed body. I have seen people raise their energy levels and completely change their outlook on life based on mere diet and exercise. I wanna achieve that goal too. IP: Logged |

Good for you. I packed it on this winter too. I like the boobs, but that's about all.... I bought a pants size bigger, last shopping excursion. But I eat mostly well (not today though) and I try to excercise at home ( mostly strength training) cuz at work, and elsewhere, I am on my feet, and moving constantly, so the aerobic part is covered. This winter sucked for inactivity.. I was here a lot.. on my ass .... I have one of those pilates balls that I should use while on the comp, and I do sometimes, just for core stability, and exercise when it doesn't feel like exercise, you're stoill siting, after all, but swivelling, and stabilising. Tank tops are here again, so I want to look better. Plus, I would never forgive myself if I got out of hand......IP: Logged |

I know what you mean pix - being overweight robbed me of a lot of good things ... I had no energy for my little angel and ended up depressed at most weddings and family functions. I have managed to lose 40 pounds already ... I gained A LOT after the baby, but its the last few steps that are the hardest. But I know if I work hard I will end up achieving my goal of being healthy, energetic and positive abt life again. IP: Logged |
