I put up a thread about smacking children and the majority said they chose not to. I was just wandering from an astro point of view whether some signs/elements would be more prone to punishing their children verbally or physically. If youve time guys could you just post "verbally" or "physically". The reason I ask is coz I have quite a few water sign friends and for some reason none of the seem to smack their kids. Your help would be appreciated - love to all xxxIP: Logged |

I absolutely would never attribute that behavior to any sign as a singularity. That goes against the rules/reality of astrology. The first rule being: Astrology indicates, it does not compel. The horoscope we choose to be born with is not a jail sentence we've given ourselves. My astrology teacher used to say that looking only at the Sun Sign was 'cookbook astrology.' She meant that one needs to look at an entire chart to begin to understand someone. Personally, to say something like "oh, the sign of _______ is more likely to hit a child" is somewhat offensive. It's tantamount to saying "Oh, people who are purple are more likely to hit a child." Insert any color you like, black, white, yellow, red. Sorry sue g, nothing personal. That sort of thing just strikes a nerve for me. How are things in Ireland? Not sure where you are, but I've been to the west coast. IP: Logged |

No offence taken Trillian - I think you are right, and maybe I was again being too 'general", oh dear I HAVE to work on this one. Thanks for your words, they helped! I live in West Cork, or a little piece of heaven as I like to call it. Did you ever visit? It has retained its "old Ireland" feel, we keep the tradition going in music, song and dance, its such a lovely soulful place to be and I love the locals - humble, easygoing and straight from the heart - lucky me hey. Thanks again for your guidance and I do hope I didnt offend anyone, Im afraid my Aries rising, rises a bit TOO much sometimes - love to all xxxxIP: Logged |

sue g, you didn't offend me at all! Sorry--that was just me being an Aries hot-head. After all, our first introduction to Linda was through her Sun Signs book--we can't discount their importance in our personal horoscopes. West Cork, eh? My heritage is in West Cork! That's where my ancestors hail from. Small world, isn't it? The name was Brennan, which is only one of the most common Irish names. And I don't think anyone in my current family has any ties to any of those very, very distant relatives who might be around. I've not been to Cork (yet!), only to Galway and Co. Claire. But I have a dear friend whose family still lives in Cork, and I know all about the Republic of Cork! http://peoplesrepublicofcork.buy.ie/catalog/index.php I want the George Bush "Langer" T-shirt! I adore Ireland, and hope it won't be too long till I can visit again. I read what you wrote on the Prozac thread, and admire your personal strength. Congratulations on all your achievements. Sue~It seems that you have a sincere interest in this topic, and I applaud you for asking questions instead of making judgments. I think Trillian is right that we can't attribute it to one's sun sign, but I understand why you were asking. Is this a personal topic for you? *I, too, adore Ireland! IP: Logged |

Hi Future Uncertain and thanks for posting. Yeah it is a personal topic for me. My parents used to spank me. They were well meaning and loving, but didnt know how else to make me behave. It made me feel very demoralised, far more than the shouting. That is why I feel it is bad to do it to children - we learn from others' mistakes hopefully. My 80 year old mother now says it is wrong to spank and actually apologised to me recently and then said "you dont hit your little one do you" Ah God bless her, isnt that amazing? Hey did you ever think of changing your name to FUTURE CERTAIN -I think it would change things for you - give it a try maybe honey - love to you xxxxxxIP: Logged |
