Please limit yourself to one saying at a time. It's not a competition. Just a place to note what words, passages, or saying are having affect on your life right now.Do elaborate on what the words mean to you, or how they affect you, or affected you if you like. IP: Logged |

quote: Though she managed to pick plenty of beautiful rushes as the boat glided by, there was always a more lovely one that she couldn't reach. "The prettiest are always further!" she said at last, with a sigh at the obstinacy of the rushes in growing so far off. ~~ Lewis Carroll
In Sun Signs, Linda uses this quote from Alice in Wonderland to help describe Gemini women. I think she got it! IP: Logged |

quote: People are just b*stard covered b*stards with b*stard filling
I heard this on Scrubs Not a quote I live by, but it comes in handy sometimes! (Sort of a humorous way for me to see that we don't always have control over what other people say/do, and sometimes it's best just to let it go.) IP: Logged |

We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. - T.S. Eliot I know that this is taking that quote out of context, but to me it's that a) We take for granted or "do not see through familiarity" that which is close to us and/or b) That which we seek is already "here". This quote is my newest favorite one. There is really alot of truth to it and I've seen its effects in my own life, my brothers and many others. Not that you can blame everything on your parents or anyone else - you make your own choices - but the thoughts and words they hold about you, have a major impact on you living up to your potential or not and how you percieve yourself. Like someone said in another thread, 'people will rise or shrink to meet our expectations of them'.------------------ "We awaken in others the same attitude of mind we hold toward them." ~Elbert Hubbard IP: Logged |

I love this one as it is a excellent reminder that we all have different perspectives and promotes a gentleness with others. The exchange between (I believe) Pilot and The Christ when he was being questioned.... They asked him, "are you the messiah?" He responded.... "You say I am" Four simple words but now look at them as emphasis is added . "YOU say I am" (others may or may not) "you SAY I am" (you say it but you do not Know it...your heart is veiled) "you say I AM" (which is the same as the messiah...God said "I am that I am" yes). "you say I am" (why do you not accuse others? emphasis on the "I") love,

In posting, I am practicing #5. Instructions for Life --credited to the Dali Lama
1. Take into account that great love an great achievements involve great risk. 2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson. 3. Follow the three R's: Respect for self Respect for others, and Responsibility for all your actions. 4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. 5. Learn the rules so that you know how to break them properly. 6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship. 7. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it. 8. Spend some time alone each day. 9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values. 10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. 11. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a 2nd time. 12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life. 13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past. 14. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality. 15. Be gentle with the earth. 16. Once a year, go somewhere you've never been. 17. Remember that the best relationship is the one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other. 18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. 19. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon. ------------------ The less I seek my source for some definitive, the closer I am to fine. -Indigo Girls IP: Logged |
