I am hoping for a worldwide grouping on this and perhaps if someone in the states doesnt remember someone else in this beautiful world will....and i already tried to find it on IMDB.I saw this movie in 1982, I was in Sixth grade. My teacher was this bizarre Jack Nicholas/Tom berenger type. He showed up all kinds of bizarre movies. this was of course new for a bunch of Children of the sun to enhance...i mean a episode of Good Times or Different Strokes was good for these kids..here was guy who came in yelling and jumping like rumplestiltskin..he was a riot..of course when your in sixth grade it was scary...you could say he made us learn by scaring the BLEEP out of us..but no..i think he was just used to being in a elite school system..not the one in chicago, and he couldnt adjust to it good. anyway back then there was only beta and the schools 16 mm reels.so it was reels:
the movie started out with two guys smoking in a bar. one guy is rich and his friend isnt. the rich guy owns a five million dollar Yacht that he just adores. the friend loves it too and dreams of owning one just like it, only that will never happen as far as hes concerned..he just cant afford it.
well the rich guy proposes a wager to his friend: if his friend can stay locked up for five years in a cabin, he cant have any radio, no tele, no phone, nothign that can bring him into the outside world. if he can stay here, then he can have the boat after his five year solitude.
his friend locks him up and then installs a wooden turnstile. so his friend can give him a list of what he needs and then turn the turnstile and not be able to see the outside world. also he can have books..
well his friend isnt going to make it easy for him.he puts a piano in the place, but his freind cant play the piano. he puts things there to discourage him and make him want to give up..at first he does okay, but later he just goes crazy and destroys things, he knocks the light out and cuts his feet, just goes crazy.
well as he pulls down the bookcase and it plummets to the floor, one book catches his eye as he is crying frantically. its a book on self hypnosis. he then reads it and request more books on this subject. as he masters the hypnosis his life becomes so much better and he learns to play the piano while in solitude.
does anyone remember this movie...if so let me know..i have been looking for it for over 20 years now...and its is driving me BLEEPING CRAZY!!!! LOL
