Hi Y'all,I've been noticing natural beauty recipes here and there and was curious if there are more out there that folks wouldn't mind sharing? One of mine is using jojoba oil as eye make up remover. The added bonus is great moisturizing for the skin area. Ciao, Aphrodite ------------------ Love all, trust a few. Do wrong to none. - William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616) IP: Logged |

Sounds like a great idea., I need something for the eye area. This is sorta on these lines......Since all things in nature are spiral form i decided to try massaging my face in spiral forms. Like after I wash my face at night I take the towel and do some gentle massage in spirals. I don't know what Im expecting but hey maybe it will make me look younger!IP: Logged |

I use witch hazel on my face if it starts breaking out all nasty, and after like 2 or 3 days it starts clearing up a bit. I bought a huge bottle but I think you might be able to find it as an astringent. IP: Logged |

One that I am VERY passionate about is COCONUT OIL. The best is the raw organic oil from Fiji. It is a small peice of the fountain of youth.I used it all during my pregnancy (and years before) and didnt get a single stretch mark! (my mom got them while pregnant, and I have heard it is hereditary, so I really do attribute it to the oil- and also, since I got a few in other places during puberty, I would say that this stuff definetely stopped them from happening!!!! COCONUT OIL- EVERYONE go get some. I put a very thin layer on my face and body daily (after shower). It makes my skin glow (just dont use too much and look like a grease pit) There is a significant difference as to how the sun absorbs into my skin when I have the oil on vs. when I dont. I tan easily, but the oil makes it even better (keeps me from burning- unless I am out for hours and hours, then I need sunscreen too) and the tan lasts longer too. It is MARVELOUS! Someone wrote a book about coconut oil recently, so my local Wild Oats was sold out of it for months because it was on back order. No one had it.And when they would get it in, it would sell out in a day. Get some! IP: Logged |

this works...for a natural deoderant ~ spring water infused with patchouli essential oil... wash under arms with tea tree oil soap. use a cosmetic pad or cotton ball to apply patchouli mix to underarms. i haven't tried a spray bottle yet, but i think it will work just as well. i'm one who needs deoderant. recently i've developed a painful reaction to any deoderant i use, and i use all natural deoderants, such as desert essence brand. so i've tried to learn to enjoy my 'natural scent', and it has felt very free to experience this. i think we expel toxins better if we allow our bodies to do this. but still! i'm self conscious about this, especially in public...so i read up on essential oils and found that patchouli has good deoderizing properties. as does bergamot, but i haven't tried this as i don't have any on hand. but the patchouli...amazing! even my commercial deoderant didn't work this well. for hours...i keep checking too...and my 'natural scent' hasn't appeared in hours. a most, most unusual thing. wow. i've always loved patchouli, and now i'm learning of the many more amazing properties of essential oils. i hope others will share any essential oil secrets or remedies they have... If you want bee stung lips, you can lightly brush a wet toothbrush for a lil but then put like a lip moisturizer. Don't ask me why I do that since my lips are huge LoL. It seems like the less I do with my skin, the clearer it stays. LoL I use ivory soap on my face twice a day. I don't really break out, only during my TOM. I used to wear TONS of make up when I was like 18, foundation and all that gunk. Make up is not good for your skin. The most I'll put now is some lip gloss and eyeliner.IP: Logged |

leoelf- yes, I agree with that. The less you do to your skin, the better. I used to wear makeup years ago too. I havent worn it in a long time. Sometimes I try it on and quickly realize why I dont wear it anymore! I look so much better without it. Makeup just hides your face. Saffron- I will try your deodorant. I have noticed that since I stopped eating animals about 7 years ago, that my body odor is so light. I could never get any deodorant to last! But now, I hardly have any body odor. So THAT is the best "protection" against odor- stop eating dead flesh! IP: Logged |

hehe...i'm a 12 year veggie, on and off (more off than on) vegan, and my 'natural scent' has stayed with me, strong as ever...although i'm not the healthiest eating veggie...i believe my body needs a major detox, an action makeover, and i think these, combined with a more whole foods eating program, might alleviate some of my *body perfume*...lol...IP: Logged |

Aphrodite- It does smell good! It may not be quite as wonderful as an actual coconut, but the texture is smooth and it is the greatest stuff! Especially if you get the raw organic oil from Fiji- or at least organic, unrefined. I have found that it has a much better texture and smell than the other stuff.Devilfish- the honey mask IS great! I use that too. you can put a drop of lavender oil in with the honey and spread on your face, then pat it with your fingers. That gets the blood flowing and makes your face pink. Saffron- Yes I know what you mean. It does depend on your diet and even a vegan diet can be unhealthy. Do you drink plenty of water throughout the day (half of your body weight in ounces!) Maybe if you add a lot of lemon juice to your water it will help purify you and you will have less odor. Something to try... IP: Logged |

hi Crystelle ~i love to add lemon juice to water...so refreshing... i've recently examined my water intake and have found that i'm probably quite dehydrated. although i often buy bottled water, i just never gave enough attention to maintaining a daily water minimum. i've been doing so for a week or two now...drinking a few quarts daily and increasing slowly. i feel a big difference already! lots of my muscle aches have disappeared and i have more energy...and a more calm disposition. amazing! it will take a few months to fully rehydrate, i know... i feel like i've found the fountain of youth! that along with gem essences...(livinglight.com) the importance of daily water consumption came with the illumination of a book by F. Batmanghelidj... i knew i should be drinking more water, but i'd drink herbal tea, or juice...and think, well, it's still liquid... not the same in any way shape or form. thank you Dr. Batman! also, today i just opened my new collection of essential oils...rose, sandalwood, neroli, jasmine, clary sage, lavender and bergamot. and some pure jojoba and almond oil. wow oh wow...when i had my first whiff of those oils (nothing like the store-bought kind) i was transported...they're magnificent! beyond powerful! i've found a wonderful online source that sells them in bulk at a very good cost. i'm so anticipating using them for healing and beauty purposes... i've already used them to great soothing effect -- energy wise, diffusing a potentially harmful disruption in my home. essential oils...a gift from goddess... also, as for my deoderant...the patchouli works nicely, and i've added the use of a mineral crystal. i use that and a few drops of patchouli mixed with water and have no trace of my scent whatsoever...it works overnight and into the next day...unbelievable -- never has any commercial deoderant worked liked that for me. i'll next try some blends with bergamot and maybe sage...and then trying mixing in some of the aromatic oils, such as rose. and maybe something like petitgrain as well as it works at alleviating sluggishness, fatigue and tension. very nice thread Aphrodite... also, did your boyfriend react to your magic and accept your spiritual path? you might try some aromatic magic to sensualize his psyche. Neat! I am planning on making a cream for my mum with coconut oil, myrrh and neoroli. Have to get supplies today!I have heard of drinking a lot of water too. There is a man I know who shared his beauty secret, as he is 50 and looks 35 He drinks a lot of spring water, exfoliates every night (he says he has very oily skin, so it works out for him) and, putting on a very good cream a night. I don't drink as much water as I know I should, I have to get moving!!! Hi Saffron - Well, Mr. Virgo actually knew about charts, but doesn't know how to read them. He doesn't care too much one way or another about my magick work. At this point, I am hesistant about getting into a relationship with him because the things we want are very different. I.e., I love children and animals and he doesn't want either (I will never give up my cat), I want to go slow, he wants a committed-LTR, he is jealous-possessive and I am a big flirt, etc. Thank you for asking. I am touched someone remembered something that is going on with me IP: Logged |

Exfoliator: wet your hands and put soap on them til it forms a lather. add some sugar and scrub your face with it. do spirals and scrub hard yet not to hard. especially the nose area. damn white heads.
Do it once a month. Exfoliating every day is bad. it will dry out your face. unless you have oily skin.
After u use it your face will feel so smooth and soft and look so clean and clear.
I got this from my mommy. ------------------ Gemini sun, Cancer rising, Taurus moon

You're welcome VTT! I am into bath & body care and this is a very good source for essential oils. Again, good quality and they don't adulterate their oils (dilute with a carrier oil) to increase their profits.Laura IP: Logged |

About the neoroli oil story . . . Every 6 weeks or so, I get a full facial at a day spa that uses only organic products grown in Australia (www.jurlique.com). I asked my beautician what essential oils would work best on mature skin because I am exploring different combinations for hand made skin care products. She said the company uses Neoroli and Myrrh for their antioxidant properties. Then I did a search on the net and found that Neoroli is used for dry and mature skin products (http://www.naturesgift.com/essentialoil-skincare.htm). Neoroli is from orange blossoms, isn'it? Anyhow, I found that both Neoroli and Myrhh are very expensive oils (about $25+ for 1/2 ml), along with Frankincense, Rose, etc. I decided to get just Neoroli and purchase other less expensive or versatile oils that could be used for multiple purposes. I saw the coconut oil but decided I wasn't ready to try it out yet. But soon! The sales person told me that she uses it as a grease for her pan when she makes pancakes! Instead for now, I got Almond oil as a carrier base. So the new formula for my mum is (now that I have the ingredients on hand at home): Aloe Vera Vitamin E Cream Almond Oil Jojoba Oil Carrot Seed Essential Oil Neoroli Essential Oil Lavender Essential Oil I am also going to make a bath salt mix. I got coarse salts from the Dead Sea! The oils going into it are: Almond as the base, Ylang Ylang for sensuality, Vanilla for warmth, and Sweet Orange for vitality. Yumm. IP: Logged |
