I just have to share the insanity of my evening...I was out at all day at a music festival that simply could not rival Live 8 but was fun nonetheless...I was to go home for dinner at 7 PM...well, as soon as 7 PM hit, my Pisces mom called me in hysterics...I thought the house was burning down! She was telling me to go to my grandparents. After like 3 minutes I got out of her that this pond we live down the road from, it's dam broke and the water from it began rushing downhill and was threateningly close to our house. I live in a small wooded area where most of the homes are summer homes and there's a mini-golf course, and then a main highway...the water cut through the wooded area, washed up some homes, just missed the golf course (i believe) and then rushed like a river across the highway, tearing it all up. I got to my grandparents, and he has a police scanner...people were trapped in their homes, 1 family of diabetics, another house caught on fire and couldn't be reached. My mom sounded like she was the only one who got to stay, my house was unaffected as it's near the edge of a road on a slight hill.

So about 10:00 she called me to tell me the sheriff up there, told her that'd the firemen manning the traffic (they closed so so many of the roads here) that they'd let us through. So my bro and I drove 20 minutes to get to the end of one of those roads (mind you, this is ALL country road - sucks to drive on for a long time) and we get to the fireman and my bro tells him what the sheriff wanted him to say, and the guy was a complete jerk. So we had to drive 15-20 minutes to be able to pull over and make a new plan. Mom calls, sheriff wants us to tell fireman his name this time...we drive 20 minutes BACK, and the guy was the biggest jerk ever. So here I am on the computer at my grandparents house at 1 AM typing to you with no clean clothes, hardly any toiletries, etc etc. Thank god for food though! LOL!

God how I hope we can go home in the morning. I hope no one died!

Having a better day, at g-parents doing a puzzle all day with grandma, apparently whoever is in the flooded area..if leave, cannot go back, and everyone who evacuated or was out can't go back right now either. So I'm not home STILL, lol! It's craziness. The firehouse here was so full of residents that another firehouse had to open for shelter. I'm all good though, full of chili and chips lol, just hectic weekend, not knowing when I'll be able to go back home!

Thanks you guys for the care! Everyone near the flood area so far has made it through, no injuries or deaths! Even the SPCA is up there to help animals (someone had a pig farm out there!)

LOL oh man no, this pond is the size of a little lake. In fact the association who wanted this new dam built is called Lake Hadlock Association because it's so big!

Anyway, I finally got back home, at 8:00 PM. I won't be able to celebrate 4th of July, no fireworks for me, because now that I'm home if I leave, I may not be able to get back in...I had to drive around 2 unmanned barricades, and my grandparents called to let me know they're putting people out there again, so they may stop people from getting up the road again. None of the emergency people will communicate with each other and they all say something different about road access.

I may go around tomorrow and take pictures if I can, I wish you guys could see the road and the bridge here that were totally destroyed...the water wiped out the highway about 100 feet down! and this bridge is just GONE.

I may post more, my Mom took amazing ones when the flood actually occurred, and some pictures of the road destruction.
BTW, all the brown should be water! And note the docks in the pictures.
