Congratulations, Eleanor!

I have a Cancer Moon child myself, and she was just like that as a baby - needed to be held constantly. But gosh, how cute they are... On top of that, I didn't like the sling I had, in fact, I don't like anything hanging or attached from my body. So I was sitting down a lot in those days, lol! Also, the baby carrier, the kind that goes into the car, really helped. But be careful not to put it on a table near the edge, because they do rock in after a while, and it's dangerous.

It's just something you have to go through, I had my second child when the first one wasn't walking yet, lol! But I wouldn't have missed it for the world...

Proxie's poem is something every mother should take to heart. It's not the dust that's memorable... And I totally disagree when parents let their child "cry it out," so they get used to being by themselves. I think that's quite revolting. After all, they don't understand what's going on, and what is a feeling of powerlessness ultimately going to teach a baby?

Speaking of dust, it actually CAN be quite harmful, especially the dust around the computer area... It is filled with chemicals that emanate from the unit, including the monitor, like minute particles of fire retardents and other yukkie stuff. Don't let your baby touch it or be near the computer when you boot it up. That's when it comes out and whirls about. (Sorry, but I felt I had to mention it since it's a hazard and I happen to know about it. Don't mean to add to your worries. Wiping the comuter area with baby wipes easily takes care of the problem.)

As far as messes in a newborn's house - it's a fact of life. Whoever complains about it, let them pitch in!

I know this is hard on a mother, and on a marriage, but things WILL get better, I promise!!

Lots of luck to you and your beautiful son! He's such a sweeetheart!

Thanks for all your wonderful responses. I've been meaning to get back to this thread and I finally got a chance.
I wish I had the time to respond to each of you here as I like doing but I really only have a minute. Please know that I've read all your kind words and taken them to heart. I really appreciate all your advice and encouragement. Thanks again.
