Our city is taking in as many Hurricane Katrina refugees as possible. We also have 3,000-5,000 local homeless- homelessness is a real national disaster here and perhaps it took this big tragedy to open peoples eyes to the USA poor and disenfranchised...i live in a depressed community where many only scrape by being on the dole of churches...the local homeless are beaten, raped, and harrassed by others including authority and are criminalized for eating, drinking, sleeping, and sitting in public! send your light and peace vibes to us here in South Texas as the universe teaches us how to treat all our beloved better! Now this disaster brings to our city thousands more! Los Colores!

Just returned home from volunteering with the refugees from Louisiana. The ones that are here in our shelters have beds, pillows, good food, and assistance and some varied tales. Some watched as others starved to death or died from lack of water, some lost loved ones in the water, some had to leave family members dead- the ones here are safe and in recovery which will take a long time-the US is still picking folks off roofs, etc...I go back at 9am to help process folks.
The health department is giving folks inoculations against disease but "we ain't seen nuthin' yet!" I join you in the light bringing

Hi tuxedo meow, I think it's commendable, the work you're putting in

I'm geographically far away & finding it hard to phrase the words to express how sad this situation brought around by 'Katrina' makes me feel.

Love for those in need - and all you guys out there putting your heart, souls & thoughts into helping
