I am going through a creative groove lately. I would love to learn from others, methods or ways that helps You encourage Your inspiration to flow? I am a writer, poet, artist and seek something new and refreshing. Thanks.Love and Light, diviniT IP: Logged |

My husband is a Graphic Artist.....I asked him what he thought was inspiring and he said "other peoples work" and visiting places of beauty.....such as mountains, sea, forests etc.For myself....it would often be music and talking to our child......listening to him is very inspiring.....watching him paint and hearing about his dreams..... One of the most inspiring things for me is being in love... Hope this helps Love Sue G xx IP: Logged |

For me, it is music, texture.. a general feeling. It is random though. I can't just say "Okay, I am going to paint now".. I have to be inspired. Deadlines are not good for me... though I usually meet them, incidently. Listen to elemental music.. something that speaks to you, so you see things in your head. I almost get an itch that feels like dancing when I am inspired.. like my hands become graceful and fluid, and I want to do anything to capture it on paper/canvas, anything. Read a sexy book, loosen up your hips. IP: Logged |

I'm very visual, so I often need images to inspire me a lot of the time. I'll look at photos or art by artists I like a lot. I tend to collect pics of artwork that are very inspirational to me. I'm also synaesthesic, so I can just mediate or listen to music with my eyes close and I can see some pretty wild images that I often try to recrate in visual art or words. Another thing, which works well for me with music, writing and visual art, is "stream of consciousness" creating, where I just literally go for it and see where I end up. With visual art, I try out different techniques, or play with ones I already know. I someties try to reproduce techniques of my favorite artist. I've even made recreation of a couple of paintings, one by Picasso and another by Mondrian (I'm starting one by Ersnt), which was a very intrguing experiement - trying to paint like another painter in that way really expanded my sense of what I can do with painting. Another thing is to simply hang with some artist friends and talk abotu being cretive (kind of like this). If you have artist friends IRL, go pester them and have them show you what they're doing currently and talk to them about where they're at with their own art. Sometimes, getting out of yourself and your own ego and letting other people's creativity be your focus for a while can be very re-energizing. IP: Logged |

Try listening to Explosions In The Sky. Simply amazing! Will get your mind reeling in all sorts of directions. quote: “The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place”Hailing from the sultry town of Austin, Texas, Explosions In The Sky make some of the most passionate, powerful instrumental music you will ever hear. Explosions In The Sky couldn’t have chosen a better band name for themselves. Their music soars, filled with atmospheric guitar lines, marching drums and elegiac melodies that ignite into walls of noise. Explosions In The Sky build sweeping soundscapes that offer increasingly spectacular vistas… Cinematic and evocative, listening to Explosions In The Sky is an incredibly moving experience, taking the listener on magical flights of musical fancy. Rolling and undulating drum beats and solid bass build the background for mesmerising guitar work which all works together to astonishing effect. The build-up will either drag out to the point where it feels like the listener’s heart will jump out of their chest from anticipation …or the finale breaks like a devastating tidal wave of sound. ... Fear, hope, sorrow, love, death, rebirth and renewal… these are the themes driving the music of Explosions In The Sky. Though what they ultimately hope to create is a powerful emotional experience driven by one’s personal interpretation of each track. The album can be about whatever fits your mood, there are no lyrics to bind you to definite meaning. This way the album becomes a much more personal experience for the listener every time. A soundtrack to your life… The idea behind the album title and the artwork was that something bad has happened to someone and they are fighting off the temptation of negativity and pessimism… trying to remember or believe that the earth is not only the place where this tragedy happened to them, but also the place where everything is reborn, where there is always hope, where life and love can come from even the worst times. This person writes the phrase, “the earth is not a cold dead place”, over and over, in a way that might seem delusional or naive. Explosions In The Sky have created a record of love and hope against the odds. It is music to accompany cathartic change, music of possibility, a requiem for a planet.
