My house smells like there's a gigantic, wonderful candle burning somewhere.I'm making super-easy apple butter in the crock pot. My Taurean Venus is in Heaven Ingredients - 8 Apples (I used 4 Granny Smith and 4 Red Delicious) - 2 cups sugar - 4 tsp ground cinnnamon - 1/4 tsp ground gloves - 1/4 tsp salt (I used about 1/8) Directions 1. Fill a slow coocker w/ diced (cut, cored, skinned, etc, etc) apples, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Cover and cook on hight for one hour. Reduce heat to low. Stir occasionallly while cooking for 12-24 hours (whatever floats your boat), or until thick and dark golden in color. 2. Fill small jars w/ hot apple butter, leaving about 3/4 inch space at the top. Hi Aphrodite I eat apple butter with croissants or biscuits. It's wonderful with a cup of coffee. What about you Proxie? My 2nd house venus, mars, mercury, and uranus is getting hungry. My 1/2 house sun doesn't object. _______________________________________ Scorpio sun, venus, mars, mercury, and uranus Libra moon, pluto, and asc. IP: Logged |

I like Apple Butter on almost any bread-like product In fact...I think I'll have some on the beer bread I'm making tonight... Most of this particular Apple Butter's getting canned for Christmas, though. IP: Logged |

I guess the heat kinda breaks 'em down. (They are in a slow cooker for 12+ hours.)To be honest, though, I ended up using a little hand mixer that I have to get just the *right* consistency. It turned out wonderfully - I just canned 3 w/ a little bit left over for me IP: Logged |
