Dear lotusheartone,we don't even really need to ask the moderator to "do their job" because, if you take a look at the Forum Rules, certain threads are in breach of them. I posted the Rules in the "other topical" thread, but I'll repost them here too. These Rules are displayed when you click on the "Join Today" link. Please note, we all had to agree to these Rules in order to be able to join. They are as follows: ******************* If you agree to abide by our rules below, you should press the "Agree" button, which will enable you to register. If you do not agree, press the "Cancel" button. Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of the information posted. Please, remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any message, and we are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the authors of the messages and not the views of Linda-Goodman.com or any entity associated with Linda-Goodman.com. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages, and we will make every effort to do so within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, insulting, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. Thanks for the reminder. It seems a lot of rules are being broken, probably inadvertently (I know that I didn't remember all the rules.) IP: Logged |

Hi juniperb,I take your point that if you are offended, you should contact the moderator, however, if the thread is in breach of the forum rules, it should be removed (without anybody having to request this). with love purple_scorp

Hi juniperb,I know that on some other forums, it is the moderator's role to read every single post in their individual forum. Some of these forums are huge, so they have several moderators that live in different time zones, so one way or another - the breaching threads don't get to see much light of day. I have to say that as I am ignorant about the moderators' roles here at Lindaland, I went to Q&A to see what it says: Moderators Moderators control individual forums. They can edit, delete, or prune any posts in their forums. If you have a question about a particular forum, you should direct it to your forum moderator. Hmm, that really doesn't tell us much. I'm guessing there would be guidelines and/or some form of training for the moddies here. with love purple_scorp IP: Logged |

You can email me, but I dont think there is much else I can do that I already have been. We can't lock or delete threads in forums that we arent moderators in. I'm not big on doing that anyway, but maybe it needs to be done more often so people understand what is acceptable and not...? ....... I dont know. I guess I could pass complaints onto Randall. Or just keep speaking up when I think I should. In any case, I'm open to emails from anyone who has a complaint. I'll do what I can. Thank you for posting the rules purple_scorp. I hadnt read them myself in awhile. quote: You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, insulting, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

Hey peace,It seems like that thread has calmed down a bit. Alot of people have voiced their views on the subject. Maybe we can let that one go? I dont think you meant any harm by it. This is just a heated subject on the site at the moment. We live and learn, right? I'm not one that has ever liked to follow anyone else's rules, but maybe - now that we've been reminded of what they are here - we could have respect for this site, and follow them a little better? This is more of a general statement, not directed at you in particular, but everyone, myself included. IP: Logged |

I'm sure you're right, 26T, and for the most part, those rules look like common sense ( I hadn't seen them in a while either ).But, in my own personal and oh-so-humble opinion, I don't think "Sexually Oriented" fits in there with abusive, hateful, threatening, etc. I mean, it's like saying that the sexually oriented is down at the same level as the rest of them, which of course it isn't. I can see why there might be a reason to some to want to avoid discussion of sex and the like, to keep this site kid-friendly and all, but... Oh, I don't know. I just thought Peace's thread was funny and interesting, ( much more interesting later, though ), and I just hate to see sex lumped in with the profane and the obscene and the rest of them. I guess I just have strong feelings about this issue. But, like I said, you're certainly right - this is Randall's site, after all, and his rules are da rules. IP: Logged |

I see where you are coming from, Johnny. I dont think 'sexually oriented' meant that that word sex or conversations about it were not allowed here. But sometimes it can be lumped in with the other words - and that's happened here. To me, it's not that sex cannot or should not be discussed here. Lately it just seems out of control and yes, at times, innapropriate. When it becomes vulgar, obscene, too graphic, then there's a problem. Some things are better left unsaid on this particular site. Know what I mean? I've already said enough about this on the other threads. Dont want to go over it all again. IP: Logged |

2 cents worth:Threads of an explicitly sexual manner, I don't think, belong here. HOWEVER, sexuality/relationships/how each sign relates to the opposite sex I think is important in an astrology forum because that is one aspect that makes us unique I think you will fine Linda's "Love Signs" goes into a fair amount of explanation of this, sooooooo, maybe it's not so bad.
