What do you think? Guilty or innocent?

Either way 25 years is in a Bali jail is extreme.
In Bali you are guilty unless proven innocent, unlike here.

However, I've always felt that she did do it.

Did you see the latest news? Photos have been found of a convicted drug trafficker with Corby in them...I don't think she'll have a convincing appeal.

I agree that in some foriegn countries, penalities for drug trafficking and possession is very severe, but at the same time, I'm really not in a position to dictate to another country how it should govern itself and its people.

What I can get uppity about is stupid, arrogant Westerners who go to these countries, thinking they can hoodwink their legal system or get off easy because they were born elsewhere. I mean, if you go to another country and break laws in that country, don't expect to be treated any differently that anyone else in that country. We had a caase where a rich US teen (i.e., brat) was broke some law when abroad and was going to caned in public (I think it was in Thailand, but I could be wrong). Then some people here got in an uproar about how humilating and cruel caning is, so they reduced the the numbers of whacks he'd get on his spoiled whitey a**. My take: Unless we are doing something with both feet on our native country's embassy grounds, Westerners don't have the right to make the rest of world treat us like we're exempt from their laws on their soil. That kid should have gotten the same punishment as a native citizen. End of discussion.

I can't say if this woman's guilty or not. If she is, then hey. I doubt she *didn't* know what kind of trouble she'd be in beforehand. And if she's innocent, then hopefully she can get the proper legal counsel and support. But if there's pics of her with a drug trafficker, I dunno. In the US that may or not may be conclusive evidence. A lot depends on what is actually seen in the photos (like the two talking, exchanging things, indicating a relationship) or how the photos are interpreted by the court.

I think she's guilty. But I don't think anyone deserves a 25 year sentence for what she did. I also think it's absolutely appalling they have the death penalty for drug trafficking. I completely disagree with their entire legal system.. and I'm strongly against the death penalty for any crime, under any legal system.

That's just my opinion though, according to my set of moral values. However I think their own standards and moral values, on which their laws are based, should be respected. From a Western point of view it's cruel. From my own point of view it's entirely wrong. From their point of view, Western laws are TOO slack and don't achieve the desired results. Their point of view and their laws shouldn't be seen as irrelevant or of lesser value in comparison to Western views and laws.

At the end of the day, fair or unfair.. from whoever's point of view.. that is their legal system and people should be better informed before they decide to go there or get involved in illegal activities.

I do feel sorry for her though.

Yes i felt she is guilty too..

If she wsnt so beautiful i dont think we would have heard as much about this case though..and it helped Bali use her as an example...guilty or not i just knew she would be convicted even if she wins an appeal later..
