Today is the longest day for people living in the southern hemisphere. Yet it's cloudy and overcast outside my window.... And on Jan 4, the Earth will be closest to the sun for the year.IP: Logged |

...errrr..Proxie...Not to be "picky" But isn't it the Winter Solstice? ...and isn't the yule log connected with it somehow? I think the exuinoxes are connected with the beginnings of spring and autumn... (sorry if I've got one little planet in Virgo) Luv, Rainbow IP: Logged |

ahhh, yes Winter Solstice!! Shortest day of the year for us Northern Alaskans! Our sun rise was at 10:41am Our sun set is at 3:41pm Thats a whoppin' 5hrs and 27 mins of daylight. The sun wont rise in Barrow Alaska for another month after today! Solstice for them, means the countdown to daylight! Glad i'm not there. I think i would have trouble determining if it was night or day and what day it was. But the flip side to Barrow's darkness is Alaskas famous midnight sun!! IP: Logged |

Wow! That must be strange....THE MIDNIGHT SUN! Anyway....*sigh*....our daylight disppears here in northern Michigan at about 5:30 pm...and I thought our daylight was cut short (poor you!)....I just don't like the short daylight...makes me depressed...
