An update on my 20-month-old little blonde monkey (for lioneye, et al):A couple of her new favorite things in the whole wide world are "Happy" and "Sad".
As in, when you ask, "What do Megasauruses say?" she replies, "HAPPIEEEE!" (and will gallop up and down the hall singing, "Haappie, haappie, haaappiieee!") and she likes to point-out everyone around her that looks crestfallen with, "Ssaad." Today I made buttermilk pancakes.
She was given hers with the requisite butter and syrup.
After a while of swirling her finger around atop the pancake and then licking the sugary stuff off of her hand, she pointed at the syrup jar and said, "Moe."
"No, Meg, you have enough on there."
"Moe *peas*."
"No, Meg, you've really had enough," followed by Meg covering her face with her crossed arms and throwing herself down upon her tray.
She then quieted, righted herself, looked intently at me, ran a single finger down her cheek (as in the path of tear) and said, "Ssaaaad." I burst out laughing.
I don't think that that was the response she was going for. She repeated herself (as if instructing a particularly slow person), "Ssaaad..." (her finger running down her cheek). I had to walk away so I wouldn't fall out of the chair. (No worries re: her emotional development: I did come back and explain that while I understand that she's sad, more syrup would not be good for her. And then walked away again and laughed some more out of sight.) I love my daughter  IP: Logged |

OMG..thats the best story!!..please promise you'll keep that stuff written up for her  ..i have a baby book that my dad wrote stuff like that in about me..i love sitting and reading it...imagining him sitting writing it and how proud he was. IP: Logged |
