It is horrible here. (pain pills are also a huge problem)The pharmacies here have started to put sudafed behind their counters. You can't buy it without first signing a meth-log. Sudafed is an ingredient they use to make meth. (They call it crank here) My condo was robbed 2 summers ago by a couple of meth addicts. It was the daughter of my neighbor. Sad... as he's a really good guy and had no idea that his daughter was an addict. I remember thinking they were really gutsy as it was broad daylight and they entered through my bedroom balcony. Easily could've been seen. Upon investigation by the police, they found propane grill tanks (which had been recently reported stolen from attendants) in the bed of their truck. I think they called that a mobile lab (??) They were high on meth. The condo committee banned them from ever coming near the property again. My poor neighbor felt so ashamed... _________________________________________ Scorpio sun, venus, mars, mercury, and uranus Libra moon, pluto, and asc. IP: Logged |

I live near Kansas City, the so called 'meth capital of the U.S. Having a bad cold, I went to buy some medicine, and noticed the ones containing ephedrine, have to be bought behind the counter, and you have to sign a paper claiming to use it for medicinal purposes. Before the state used these measures, meth makers used to buy the whole rack. Out in the rural areas, farmers now have to protect their anhydrous ammonia tanks, because makers are now stealing it production of meth. Finally, I had a close friend go crazy on it at home, and his mother put him in a mental institution because he became very violent. Before, (the last time I saw him), he said he'd tried it once. I pleaded with him to never do it again, but the stuff is more addictive than crack cocaine. So, my close Piscean friend has fallen. I ask his Mom about him, and she says he's alright, but he thinks I betrayed him since his Mom asked me if he was taking it, to which I said yes. Another nice thing is seeing alot of younger people around here with missing teeth, a telltale sign of long-term meth use.IP: Logged |

My doctor gives me pharmaceutical grade amphetamines for ADHD when I ask for them. It's WAY better than coffee but you get a quick tolerance/addiction to it.Methamphetamine is also prescribed to kids with ADHD. This society is the dumbest ever! IP: Logged |

As for some indicators, it's definitely the mouth...it's all oral..The jaw is a constant fixation..something in meth cause users to gnash their jaws...and sometimes it's more apparent in others because their jaws are not aligned, some sort of sit to the side and u can tell in conversation...plus they ramble on and on much like jibberish where as coke users get "locked up" meaning they don't speak...and yeah it's the teeth..I hear that we tax payers pay a huge chunk of money to prisons for many meth users dental bills...most meth users have physical signs..of decay if not the teeth they have sores, scars from what they call speed bumps or bugs, which ever...more later...gtgIP: Logged |

Hi Jane. Yes, the signs are definitely around the mouth. Just recently a guy I work with was out hunting, and came across a meth-making lab, of which he notified the sheriff. I think if potential first time users were informed that their smile will end up looking the the keys on a piano, they might think twice about it.IP: Logged |

finishing up...from my experience...I've seen quite a few things involving meth's usage. So if you are looking for physical signs it's quite apparent, and if you enter someone's home who's using be very aware..Meth labs that are homes produce such a toxicity in the home that its inhabitants can virtually get sick from the house--basically it becomes a meth sponge...AS for the usage...beware of glass pipes, light bulbs, syringes and even tin foil..There's a huge epidemic of people with meth and esp coke that "foil"--smoke the drugs...I've personally never witnessed it injected but I've seen people snort and smoke it...It's smell is really distinctive...imagine smoking aspiring...IP: Logged |

There was recently a Frontline program on the meth epidemic. You can find the program's page here - it goes into detail on how meth destroys the body, FAQs (why it's the "unneccesary epidemic", etc), interviews with authorities who talk about the epidemic's history and the years of efforts to control it, and a state-by-state map of its spread. There's also timelines, pertinent links, "The Oregonian's" Meth series, the Mexican source, US Nat'l Strategy, and even the entire program streamed (though that's probably only watchable if you catch it at the right time).
