How do you know if you can't beat them unless you tried? I guess some might see it as the equivalent of banging your head against a brick wall but I think that people often underestimate what a small but committed group of people can accomplish, even in the face of billions of dollars waiting to be poured.. It just seems to me that what is being risked is far to great just for the sake of stretching out a dying oil economy for just alittle longer... I mean these oil companies come in, take what they want and don't give a damn what they leave behind, really. It's the people who love that land and have committed their existence to that particular place who will pay the ultimate price in the end when the water table is polluted with heavy metals and other irreversible environmental degradation becomes painfully obvious. AG...what? Why would you think this is a prank? The facts speak for themselves.Harpyr, I can't argue with you, it IS raping the land. And many groups have lobbied against it. But Big Business always wins in court. Your country is our largest consumer and customer. There is no taming the American appetite for oil. So, Ka-ching then. IP: Logged |

Yes, some jobs require some technical skills & experience. I'm sure some of you have that. Other jobs are just general labour, which anybody can do. They pay $11 per hour at the friggin Sub'Ways in Ft. Mac. That's how desparate they are for employees. They tend to not advertise the labour jobs, because they try to fill them locally. But this is an area with 2.5 % unemployement. And those who are unemployed, choose to be so for whatever reason. (babies, injuries, laziness, wealth, etc) IP: Logged |

f'ing pussies.. hahahhahahahaa I love thatI do think that with the increase in need and production of a natural non renewable resource, we should be focusing on renewable resource building to a higher degree... as there is an end to this... Realistically.. if you take the peacenik view from it, and are honest, on all 'political' levels, something reaal needs to replace the oil industry, in the foreseeable future. We have the technology, and are learning more, and it is a matter of focusing on these in a big business sense.. for all our futures. IP: Logged |
