To everyone: Did you ever have someone you idolised and aspired to be like, for right reasons or wrong? Someone famous, someone you know.. whatever really! Now here's the tricky part Did you love this person? In a friendly, family or romantic/sexual way? Have you ever had a relationship with someone you idolise? If so, have their been problems/pluses in this relationship caused by your secret continuing admiration for them?Just wondering really. Of course, I suppose your answer depends on whether your idolisation of this person was healthy (for good reasons) or unhealthy (ie. awe, obsession etc). I have idolised people but never had a relationship with one of those people. Well, yet... haha. Anyway. Comments? IP: Logged |

Marcus Aurelius is my hero. I read his words almost everyday, his wisdom gives me a much needed sense of peace and clarity. I have become a better man because of him. One day I will be a great man because of my desire to be like him. Marcus Aurelius Rocks the Casbah ! LOL I think it's time for me to get some sleep. *edit* MNF I kind of missed the tricky part. I have never idolized anyone I have known. There are quite a few people that I have a great amount of respect for, but idolize/ want to be like ? No. Regards,

LEO TOLSTOYSun/Mercury/Moon in Virgo, 5th house... Ascendant Cancer Leo Tolstoy is one of the greatest writers of all time. He wrote novels, - the best of which, imo, is the least well known (Resurrection), - as well as near perfect short stories, novellas, and essays. His writing is characterized by its simple, logical, direct, and lucid style, and is known for its "purity". In his fifties, Tolstoy experienced a profound depression, which would last, on and off for the rest of his life (another 30 years). During this time he sought desperately and sincerely to discover the meaning of life, all the while struggling not to take his own. He conducted a search the likes of which few have undertaken. He poured over the holy books, and philosophies of the world; compassed Socrates, Solomon, Buddha, Schopenhauer, and, finally, Jesus Christ. He began to experience profound revelations of spiritual truth. He eventually concluded that the true essence of the Christian revelation, contrary to what was being taught the world over, is LOVE, pure and simple. Fundamental to his philosophy is a dualism, between what he called "The Law of Love", and "The Law of Violence". Like Jesus and the Buddha, he taught that we should "resist not evil"; that "hatred never ceases by hatred, but, by love alone, it is ceased". Tolstoy corresponded with Gandhi, and strongly influenced Henry David Thoreau, Martin Luther King Jr., and the Passive-Resistance Movement. Born a ridiculously wealthy man, Count Tolstoy renounced ownership of his land, and distributed it among the peasants who lived and worked upon it. He went on to live on the land with them, to establish a school for peasant children, and to write the very greatest works of his life, and some of the greatest moral writings of all time. He is regarded by many as the conscience of his time. The only man famous and beloved enough to publicly criticize the Czar, and live to publish. He died tragically, in a train station, past the age of 80. He had left home several nights earlier in a state of spiritual longing, still restless, still seeking. IP: Logged |

now is the time for you to decide on how, who, and what you will become (in adulthood). You have many options or avenues to choose from and a lot of choices to make. Many of these will be made according to the people you admire or aspire to be like. You have all these decisions to make with no real experience to base them on (still a teenager) so many of these will be based on the promise of tomorrow. I couldn't wait to grow up and become independant, it wasn't untill years after when I fully appreciated living at home. I call it growing pains. IP: Logged |

lalalinda- You are talking to me right? Any role models I have are totally inappropriate, if not simply for their lack of qualities to be idolised about. I was talking more about idolising in the romantic sense because it is the main sort I identify with. I try not to think about what may become of my life because sometimes the inevitable prospect of how much I might mess it up is frankly too disconcerting to be bothered with. Thank you very much for taking the time to care and talk to me Attention's always appreciated! hahaIP: Logged |
