Hi..I need some ideas. My parents are looking to open a new buisness. They already own a tattoo shop. They have been thinking about moving to another state and opening another tattoo shop there. If the family can get another business going I am sure they will drop the move..which I WANT! Me and my sister are to come up with ideas of something fun and new to open. We need something hip and kool that will get attention like the tattoo shop has. I think we have a reputation to keep up..soooo! Any ideas would be great...thanks! xo VCIP: Logged |

Off the top of my head:Create a hangout You could have a coffee shop or whatever (have a variety of drinks). Decorate it with cool art (maybe from the tattoo place). Keep the lights low. Have good music playing. Sponser open mic nights, or small bands playing. Sell your own custom shirts and hats. Create some way of cross marketing your two businesses, so regulars at your hangout can get a little discount at the tattoo shop and vice versa. IP: Logged |

A unique photography studio. It's artsy like a Tattoo shop and the profit margins would be really good. You could have previous clients modeling tattoos and using the poster size photographs as window displays.IP: Logged |

I'm not sure what you mean by 'internet cafe.' Do you mean just having the wireless connection, so people can bring their laptops, or are you talking about actually providing computers? I've never seen the providing computers bit work. It's interesting that three of us from the Bay Area, CA (hi-tech hub of the U.S.) are in this thread, and none of us really considered the internet to be part of the equation. Just an observation. IP: Logged |

AG ~ because I am sick of the high-tech world! I am sick of cell phones, ipods, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, tech this and tech that! I wish I lived in the 50's so I could go 50's dancing and go to diners and have ice cream floats, and pie! Yessiree! IP: Logged |

In my neighborhood alone I know of 4 internet cafes. The section with the computers looks isolating because the people have their eyes glued on the screen. The fun parts about coffee shops are people watching (at least for me!) and talking to people hanging around. It doesn't look like internet cafes in SF are considered hip places to hang out, but having them around is kind considered a standard. I think in other parts of the world, they are considered really cool. I noticed this when I was in Mexico.IP: Logged |

Yeah, I go to coffee shops to people watch and talk, too. Putting computers in would seem to dampen the atmosphere.IP: Logged |
