Shop, I haven't read that particular book but I hate any book that tries telling me how to be/behave/act or what to do or wear! Those relationship ones like "The Rules" make me laugh too! The only rule I have is...don't read those kind of books!!

What about "He's just not that into you" ?

Many women found that book very helpful & liberating. No more pining for someone who isn't even thinking about you. My neice really liked it. Said it was hilarious.

I read "He's Just Not That Into You" and it was funny, but sort of depressing. I agree that there are too many books out there telling women how to act. I just reviewed a new book by Steve Nakamoto called "Dating Rocks" and I really enjoyed it. You can find my review on amazon.com.

That's why I refuse to read "Cosmo", et al - they're just brainwashing packaged as brain candy.

I hate some of those self-help books. The authors seem so sure of their theories, you’d think they’re backed up by science or something

It’s like “I am 100% right, do as I say…and if you fail it’s your fault”

It’s like my lecturer once said “if you get a good score in your test, it’s because we’re good teachers. If you get a bad score, it’s because you’re a bad student”

Prox: I agree.

The covers are usually "how to make your man moan with pleasure". Huh? Let him learn how to work me... I don't need any help Sorry... I just had a really conceited brat moment there.

The advice is really bad... NOTE: Just my opinion.

I won't even get into the lingo those magazines use.

It's verbally geared toward pre-teens... which contradicts it's front page topics.

I picked up my little sister's copy one day... you know what I learned?

How to look uber-sexy in my stylish tasty lip-gloss. Wow.

Maxim is the male version of Cosmo.

I'll buy a magazine maybe once every three years, just to know what the hell everyone else is talking about.

All I know is, that "He's Just Not Into You" book might be considered helpful by people I know, but it doesn't mean anyone I know has taken any positive steps in their life when it comes to relationships.
