Loud engines are so freakin' annoying. You know the ones, the really loud motorcycles that are just cruising in quiet neighborhoods, the little Asian cars that are so low to the ground the fender scrapes the potholes on the street, just BLEH. They are even louder than fire engines, and I live near a fire station one block away. What gives? IP: Logged |

I am anti-car alarm. Nothing tests the whole "Peace, Love and Understanding" thing for me like a noisy car alarm. One minute I am spreading kindness and feeling compassion, and then the car alarm... I start thinking "GRRR! Those stupid (insert swear words here) and their stupid (more swearing) car alarms!!!" My apologies to any innocent Linda Land car alarm owners in my evil path of destruction here. There is something about the loud, horrible noise that startles me, gets my adrenaline running and just plain "ticks" me off!!!!!!! Yep, I can say that I will try to be grateful to the Universe for showing me where I need to be more peaceful... but hey, it's a lot quieter on mountaintops... IP: Logged |

Even as I can understand the rant, ( it can be deafening to have a whole group of Harley's cruise by...), I have to say that, being the driver of my own beast( mine is loud but, being a truck, it's different in a kind of 'growlie' way ), ... anyway, I like the fact that some motorcycles are loud... means I hear them before I see them, unlike the 'crotch-rocket' bikes that I tend to only see a split second after hearing them PASS me... I do my best to be a safe driver but, most of the encounters I've had with those particular bikes, they appear to be the ride of those that have a death wish... they have always been seen exceeding the speed limit ... I might as well have been standing still, to all that have passed me on a hiway! I own 2 trucks and, both are less the muffler they were equipped with but, my smaller truck was given this modification for this same reason... hear me so I'm more likely to be seen... My full size...well... that modification is for my own ear . ~ geminstone IP: Logged |

I totally, like, totally agree. I also can't stand it when someone honks a horn at me. It gives me a mini-heart attack. IP: Logged |

That's why my ideal ride of choice is a horse. Neighs in contrast to the the mechanical noise are musical, lyrical and uplifting...IP: Logged |

What bugs me about the motor-cycle engines is that the designers have the technology to make them almost perfectly quiet with no sacrifice of power, but they don't cuz they figure that people will associate silence in an engine with weakness.IP: Logged |
