$&^%&**&!!! wow, over 1500 to go to france at the end of july into mid august round trip. no wonder so many freakin airlines are struggling! that is utter **** . far to much money..and that is the cheapest i found.even for late december into mid january i was lucky to find something under 1000...*&()*%...where does the money go when you give an airline 1000+? seriously where do these companies get off. heellp thanks for listening to my rant. there is no way to justify the steep costs of traveling over seas. somebody is pocketing the majority of the money from each ticket sold and laughing there ***** off..ugghh, extremely frustrated. Those are peak travel times. Summer and the holidays. Nonetheless, it sounds a bit high since you also live on the East coast, right? See if you can take advantage of student prices. Check out STA Travel. Also, may be you can catch a cheaper flight into London and take the Eurostar into France. I think it's ~$225 from London to Paris.Good luck. IP: Logged |

another thing, try taking a bus or train down to NEW YORK or New Jersey(b'coz a lot more flights go thru there) and take a flight out of there, it'll be way cheaper than flying out of Maine. I would also suggest to check flights from Philadelphia. I paid about $750 for the round trip Air France ticket from Philadelphia to St. Petersburg, Russia through Paris Although it was over a year ago I think there were quite a few good deals on Philadelhia flightsIP: Logged |

I've been in corporate travel for 17+ yrs...yep, anyone traveling during the summer is when airfare typically goes up - they know you'll pay for it for a vacation with the family. I agree, fly out of a major/larger airport where there is competition between airlines (more than three) to keep airfares lower. Try consolidators who buy seats on planes in bulk and drops fares lower too, but these tickets can also have a lot of restrictions, so know about them before you decide to buyIf you're a student, many agencies cater airfares towards students, try Googling that... Make plans to travel Tues-Thurs rather than on the weekend, Fri-Sun when fares can be a bit higher... Also, try surfing airline websites for web fares and weekly specials. If possible, try to plan during off-peak travel times like late Sept/October. Thanksgiving and Xmas prices will go back up again when they know people will be traveling... Good luck IP: Logged |
