I have curly hair, so growing it takes f o r e v e r!!!! To see any results, anyway.I had it long for a long time, and then decided to cut it off when pregnant with my daughter. I could feel my neck, that short!! Then I did it again, though a different style. Now I have been growing it back for ages.. it's long when straightened, but still, barely past my boobs when curly. Will it be iliberating for you? Friggin' right it will! Will you regret it? Maybe.. but you can always grow it back. It's a great experience just to know a 'different' you. Go for it! Go to a nice salon, make sure they don't 'experiment with you'... guidelines.. be specific. maybe with swingy, but not too many, layers.. research your fave celebriy hairstuyle, see if it works for your face shape, etc. enjoy! Please tell me you get it trimmed really long hair is harder to care for, and can easily look messy. I would suggest cutting it, but not too short. Maybe half way down the back, or a bit longer? At least for a start, if you feel braver, go further. Also don’t cut it too short in the front, it looks really feminine if you have a long fringe ( or “bangs” as you guys call them ), think Bianca Balti http://www.biancabalti.com/ IP: Logged |

haha I’m glad that first line worried me.See how nice it looks, I’m growing my fringd so it can be like hers…almost there http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b151/AlexaJ/biancaBalti1.gif http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b151/AlexaJ/biancaBalti2.gif Even if you cut it really short, keep it long in the front. It looks so cute. My friend's hair is exactly the same...and it looks SO nice. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b151/AlexaJ/biancaBalti3.gif IP: Logged |

My hair is goes to the small of my back about 2 inches from where my hipster jeans sit. I get it trimmed on a pretty regular basis (My mother is a cosmotologist / hair dresser). She is the only one I trust with my hair.I have had long hair forever- but did get it cut short a few times. It feels like anything else new... just new, but it depends on your comfort level. I love having my hair long- I love my hair- it's got just enough wave, is thick but not coarse - it holds a curl, gets highlights when I am out in the Sun and I get tons of compliments on it. Since I have had it long for just about all my life, I know how to take care of it and wash it properly. I don't scrunch it all up on the top of my head with shampoo, but start from the scalp, scrub under and then work it to the ends - I also use more moisturizer on the ends than on the head (I live in the desert). Sometimes it sucks when I get into the car and shut the door or window on my hair LOL.. but that is a small price to pay. Oh and I don't have bangs and never will again as I look like a pumpkin head with Bangs.. and I have a cowlick - 2 actually on either side of my head so my bangs stick out like I have horns (I have a widows peak and that doesn't translate into cool bangs). But I think you mean the long bangs that flare out and can still be pulled back into a pony-tail IP: Logged |

The biggest difference, when I went from hair being past my waist to the opposite extreme... my head was feeling soooo light!! I've had zero regret since, ( though, my husband sure misses it ) and, in fact my most current cut, left me with even less and,... almost military... I LOVE it!! When I went for the initial chop, (roughly 5 years ago), the stylist tried to opt out of being the one to do it The only thing to be aware of, if you do decide to go short, is that issue of weight... See, as it is now, it is quite heavy and, if you go for a very short style, your hair will go into a shock, of sorts and, for the first little while after, it may not behave the way you'd like... takes some retraining... I loved my long hair but, I loved to 'wear' it and, after having my first kiddo, it just stayed tied back... Became very much, A PAIN!! Needless to say, I knew I wanted to be rid of it and, besides, if after going short you decide it's not what you expected,... it will probably grow back and, with the possibly of being healthier.~ geminstone
